The purpose of this research was to know the effectiveness of realistic mathematics learning model implementation based on Mandailing culture by teaching of students' mathematical problem solving ability in junior high school. The type of research was development research used 4D model, they were define, design, develop, and disseminate. This research discussed the develop phase, it was about the effectiveness of realistic mathematics learning model implementation based on Mandailing culture. The effectiveness of learning model was reviewed from the achievement of students' mastery learning in mathematical problem solving ability, the students' learning active activities and the students' response in learning. The research was conducted in public junior high school 1 Kotanopan grade VII where the design was pretest posttest control group design. The method of data collecting was conducted using test, observation and questionnaire. The obtained data was processed using quantitative descriptive analysis. The conducted research obtained some results, they were; (1) The mastery of students' mathematical problem solving ability in experimental class through the posttest achieved 90.63%, while in control class achieved 81.25% where the school classical mastery was 80%;(2) The active activities in experimental class through 10 activity aspects that was observed at all fulfilled the limit of effectiveness tolerance while in control class through 8 activity aspects that was observed fulfilled the limit of assigned effectiveness tolerance; (3) The students' positive response to learning in experimental class was about 98.91% and in control class was about 83.05%. If it was reviewed from the achievement criterion of learning mastery, learning active activities and students' response in experimental and control class was fulfill the criterion of the effectiveness and the effectiveness of experimental class was better than the control class. Therefore, generally states that the implementation of realistic mathematics learning model based on Mandailing culture was effective in teaching of students' mathematical problem solving ability.
The tahsin recitation of the Qur'an is an endeavour at Ma'had Abu Ubaidah bin al-Jarrah Medan to eradicate Qur'an illiteracy among the elderly. The activity is in reaction to Indonesia's high degree of Al-Qur'an illiteracy. This study gathered information from key informants and program administrators through a participatory observation approach. Data from the field suggest that senior participants are divided into groups based on their age before participating in a series of Al-Qur'an reading practices with examples of lip motions. Ma'had also offers e-learning services in order to improve learning outcomes. The eradication of Al-Qur'an illiteracy is a response to past socioeconomic conditions that prohibited people from learning to read the Al-Qur'an. These factors may include low economic levels, an unsupportive social context, and a lack of educational understanding.
Student’s mathematical communication and abstraction skills were needed in learning mathematics. Another aspect of the student learning process was the need to know and to develop the wisdom of local culture in their daily to lived. This was because students were expected to be a smart generation and still respect their own culture that they will use as life guidance. However, the problem was how to be in still the wisdom of local culture in learning mathematics? Based on these problems, the researcher designed a mathematical learning model that incorporated the wisdom of local culture in mathematics learning. The purpose of this study was to test the Means-Ends Analysis learning model based on the local Cultural Wisdom that had been designed. This learning model was using the wisdom of local culture in mathematics learning. The purpose of this learning model was to improve communication skills and mathematical abstraction skills of students in grade 7. The subjects were Year 7 students of junior high school in the City of Berastagi and Perbaungan. The undertaking, students said that they found it was easier to understand mathematical concepts. Although, the teacher had difficulty in elaborating the problem of mathematical abstraction with the cultural, but the teacher said that the students become easy to communicate their mathematical abilities.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
