Abstract-The importance of knowledge sharing within a country whether at central, regional nor local governments has been largely overlooked. In a knowledge based economy, performance and productivity are the factors that crucial in determining success factors. This is an indicator of the sustainability of economic development. Competencies, skills and knowledge are the imperative components to achieve the competitive advantage for individual and organization. Learning becomes as an important activity to improve the skills, competencies and knowledge. The learning process is an important element to facilitate decision making at personal, organizational and societal levels. Similarly, in the agricultural sector where important decision is made in planning, marketing, research and development, production, etc., undoubtedly knowledge sharing is an important practice to help farmers and other stakeholders in gaining better productivity. This paper presents findings of a recent study on knowledge sharing practices among paddy farmers in Selangor granary areas. Eight paddy farmers' representatives were questioned on their experience and livelihood, individually and as members of a larger community of practitioners. Through this case study, the reports enable readers to understand the pattern of knowledge sharing among farmers and good practices at the community level being put to good use. The findings of the study can be reused, hence making learning and education among farmers become more efficient.Index Terms-Generation and dissemination of information, knowledge management, learning, paddy farmer.
Technological advances and emergence of digital information present a significantly different challenge than libraries had before. With abundance of digital formats of information available in libraries, a new standard of cataloging has been introduced. The standard for cataloging that emphasized on the content of metadata which can support the discovery, identification and employment of information resources in library or known as Resource Description and Access (RDA) is designed for the digital environment. It is expected to have full implementation in all libraries in Malaysia by 2017. This announcement has been made by the former director of National Library of Malaysia. To accomplish this mission, training is considered a basic requirement for every librarian before the introduction of RDA. However, it is found to be great challenges in conducting training and implementation of RDA in many libraries. With regards to this matter this study focuses on literatures on RDA pertaining to; training, costs, cataloging procedures and integrated library system. The framework may become foundation for libraries in supporting RDA in bibliographic control. The insight will inspire and inform a wide array of new research agenda in the cataloging and metadata literature.
Publication count is used as one of the indicators of research productivity. It is also used to rank researchers, faculties, and academic institutions. The objective of this study is to identify what are the factors that influence publication productivity in Malaysia using SCOPUS database. This study utilised a systematic literature review methodology for academic articles for 5 years, starting from 2017 to 2021. Various factors that contribute to the publication output in many fields have been identified. These factors have been grouped under three main blocks which are individual, institutional, and situational factors. From 2017 to 2021, it shows that Malaysian research universities and private university have actively published articles.
