This paper is motivated by the urgency of adaptations against natural disaster are part of human effort to keep their existence. The rapid development of urban areas in line with population growth has led to the need for space in urban areas. Housing and settlement is one of the basic human needs that must be met. Housing requires suitable land, but the land that suitable for housing in Semarang is limited. This causes the area that is not suitable for housing (landslide prone areas) built as housing. UNDIP Dewisartika housing was not an area prone to landslides, but poor environmental conditions caused the housing to be hit by a landslide. The phenomena, raises the response of the community to adapt to adjust to survive in their environment. This study aims to determine the form of adaptation that is done by the community. This research uses descriptive qualitative method, with purposive sampling technique (taking the appropriate sampling). The analysis was carried out in the form of identifying disaster areas in housing, as well as forms of spatial patterns arising from community adaptations. The results showed that UNDIP housing was a potential disaster area, efforts made by the community in the form of drainage on the slopes and the construction of talud next to the slopes, and there were similarities pattern of space formed by the community.
This study aims to map the existence of the wooden houses of Omah Pencu and classifies their potencies as heritage buildings in the historic area of Kudus Kulon. Caring for indigenous cultural heritage will contribute to the strengthening of local identity. The traditional houses of Omah Pencu have been developing as the specific architecture since the end of the 17'th century, as a living place of the ‘Gusjigang' community, and artifacts evident of the city heyday. However, the pressure of modernization-capitalization in the city caused several changes in their built environment and decreased the number of Omah Pencu. This research concern with the GIS interpretation methods and the direct observations use the questionnaire, interview, and architectural documentation. The findings provide an important database for preservation in the digital era. The digital mapping, combined with the mapping of tangible and intangible buildings, produces digital information about the Omah Pencu building condition that has never been done before. Through this mapping, found that the participation effort of the community caused the sustainability of preservation. It is a very significant bottom-up participation. However, toward sustainable preservation, a strategy, planning, design, and management that integrated all stakeholders and resources by utilizing digital technology are needed.
The purpose of this research is to analyze the possibility of implementing Smart Urban Railway Space concept in the development of Semarang Tawang Station area which is one of the entrance gates of Semarang tourists and has a high historical value. The area of Tawang station becomes an integral part of Semarang Old Town because of its adjacent location. This attachment is one potential that can be considered to grow the activity of the area into a tourism area and a business center. Increasing number of visitors can cause overcrowding. The crowded situation of visitors caused the lack of circulation so that the need for redesigning Tawang station area. A station area (public transportation) must be able to adapt to the environment and function needs for the visitor. Smart city design is about rethinking infrastructure, buildings and facilities as well as other infrastructure integrated to form smart cities and smart urban space. Smart Urban railway space is a concept that integrates an architectural building with the surrounding open space. It is hoped that this concept can parse overcrowding and make the area of Tawang station a tourism area. Methods used are qualitative methods with a rationalistic approach. The result of this research is a recommendation of the Smart Urban Railway Space concept at Tawang station area which is expected to parse the overcrowding problem that occurred.
