This study focused on Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) adoption by Small and Medium-sized Enterprises in Kogi State. The study determined the constraints against the adoption of ICT by SMEs in Kogi State. This study used survey research design. The population of the study comprised of 2027 SMEs. Multi-stage sampling technique was used to choose the required sample size of 323. Descriptive statistics and Binary Logit Regression were used for analysis. Findings show that excessive reliance on foreign technology, unreliability of e-commerce systems, high costs of ICT equipment, insecurity and legal and regulatory issues has significant influence on the adoption of ICT by SMEs in Kogi State. The study concluded that despite the benefits of ICT, some constraints detract its adoption by SME owners in Kogi State. The study recommended that SME owners should have positive perception of the usefulness of ICT, find alternative way of using ICT, source for adequate fund and acquire better ICT knowledge to have better chance of ICT adoption in Kogi State.Contribution/ Originality: This used new method for analysis. It contributes significantly to literature and theories. The study is the first to be carried out in the study area.
This study analyzed motivational factors and the academic staff performance of the higher institutions of learning in Kogi State, Nigeria. The study adopted descriptive survey design. Purposive sampling was used to select two hundred and seventy eight (278) respondents. Descriptive statistics, multiple regression and correlation matrix were used to analyze the data gathered. Findings show that regular pay, work conditions, achievement and job security have significant predicting power over the teaching quality of the academic staff of the selected higher institutions of learning in Kogi State. The study concluded that regular payment of full salary can facilitate better performance on the part of the academic staff members. The study recommended that the government and the management of the higher institutions of learning in Kogi State should pay more attention to regular pay, work conditions and achievement of their academic staff; and pay less attention on their job security.
In Nigeria, the marketing of agricultural produce is far from being efficient. Unpredictable fluctuation in the prices of various foodstuffs like Gari has become a common feature of the nation’s economy. The situation is such that the consumers of agricultural foodstuff pay exorbitant prices while the producers receive relatively low prices. This research focused on the economics of Gari Marketing Enterprise in Ankpa Local Government Area of Kogi State, Nigeria. Ankpa Local Government Area consists of 5 districts out of which 3 were sampled and used for the study. 6 wholesalers and 6 retailers were sampled from each village making a total of 120 respondents. Responses from 100 respondents made up of 40 wholesalers and 60 retailers. Profitability analysis model was used in data analysis. Finding shows that Marketing of Gari was found to be profitable at the whole sale. This study recommend that marketers should form cooperative societies to enable them handle some of the marketing activities as well as establish Gari processing mills silos to reduce costs.
