Landscape feature areas dedicated to the latest structural lines and regional tectonic uplift areas (eg, the southern part of Middle-hill) is the presence chalk outcrops. They gravitate to the most elevated right bank of river valleys composed chalk-marl rocks. Application mapping methods to study areas with the participation of aerospace equipment-one of the scientific and applied areas of study outputs chalk on the surface and further studies of flora and fauna.
The distribution and numbers of the Collared Doves (Streptopelia decaocto) during the nesting period in Kharkiv City.
Intending to create a regional landscape park, we investigated various sites of upland oak forests, pine forests on the above-floodplain terrace of the left bank of the Udy River, adjacent floodplain meadows on both banks, and swampy soil depressions near the village of Ternovaya. In total, we proposed seven segments with a total area of 6173.03 hectares to be included in the Smarahdove Dzherelo Regional Landscape Park, a projected conservation area in the south of the Kharkiv District of the Kharkiv Region. The studied oak forests on the right river bank and flat interfluves, pine forests on the above-flooded terrace, and the Udy floodplain are examples of the typical landscape of Slobidska Ukraine. The Udy floodplain hosts meadows of a significant area and alder forests in humid near-terrace depressions; dry meadows are confined to forest edges and fallow lands. In total, ten endangered natural habitats listes in the Berne Convention are presented in the study area. Flora and vegetation are rich and, in general, retain the composition inherent in the biotopes of the southern forest-steppe of Left-Bank Ukraine. One plant association is included in the Green Book of Ukraine; the other three are in the List of Rare Plant Associations of the Kharkiv Region. Five vascular plant species, one fern species, and one fungus species are included in the Red Data Book of Ukraine; 14 plant species are included in the Red List of the Kharkiv Region. We found eight animal species of the European Red List, 65 animal species from Appendices II and III of the Bern Convention, including six species from Appendices I and II of the Bonn Convention; 23 animal species are included in the Red Data Book of Ukraine, while 19 species are in the List of Rare Species and Species in Need of Protection in the Kharkiv Region. New locations of species requiring protection at the regional and all-Ukrainian level have been identified. Species at the boundaries of their ranges make a significant contribution to local biodiversity. Several southern species were found on the dry edges of the Chornyi Lis forest area: for the Mantis Iris polystictica, it is the second record from the Kharkiv Region, for the spiders Marinarozelotes malkini and Ero aphana, it is the first record in the regional list. Two beetle species (Fissocatops westi and Scymniscus horioni) are new to the fauna of Ukraine. We assessed the degree of preservation of natural communities and the possibility of their inclusion in various zones of the projected regional landscape park. Basic biotechnical measures were recommended to maintain the natural properties of the park ecosystems.
The purpose of the article is to summarize the results of field studies carried out in the framework of the State Antarctic Research Program for 2011-2020 and undertaken to identify areas of special interest for small-scale marine spatial protection in the Argentine Islands water area. The scientific results reported in the publications and relevant meetings' documents officially presented by the Ukrainian delegation in 2012-2019 were summarized and interpreted in view of the Antarctic Treaty System (ATS) provisions on marine spatial protection. GIS analysis was applied to field data. It is shown that the development of protection regime for small-scale underwater landscape is based on systematic biogeographical data collected during seasonal and year-round Ukrainian Antarctic expeditions in 2011-2019. In order to harmonize the application of all available tools of spatial ecosystem-based protection across the ATS, it is proposed to designate the long-term environmental monitoring sites around Ukrainian Antarctic Akademik Vernadsky station as a new Antarctic Specially Protected Area (ASPA) consisting of terrestrial and marine components. It is shown that the marine component of the proposed ASPA could serve as one of the scientific reference areas of the broad-scale Marine Protected Area in Domain 1 within the Antarctic Peninsula region for assessing the impact of climate change on benthic communities, as well as breeding success and distribution of penguin colonies.
The existence of only a paper outline scheme in the National Nature Park Project does not allow to unambiguously interpret the boundaries of the object. Purpose. Development of technique for establishing the boundaries of protected areas. Methods. Cartographic using the ArcGIS geographic information system Results. The basic cartographic document for the study was a scanned map at a scale of 1:50 000 showing the boundaries of the Gomilshansky Forests National Park from the National Nature Park (NNP) Project. The main problem was the lack of elements of its mathematical basis on the map. The IT technology of geo-linking the scanned map of the park boundaries in the GIS environment includes the following actions: linking topographic map sheets at a scale of 1: 50,000 in the ArcGIS geographic information system, saving the relevant geo-linked, transformed copies of the image; visualization of digital geodata with geometry and coordinates of points of boundaries of forest areas (quarters); download the scanned map of the boundaries of the NNP from the Project of creation without geographical reference and perform the procedure of sequential addition of control points of reference; image transformation and saving the result in geotiff format. After that, a polygonal vector layer of * shp format was created and the park territory was digitized according to the NNP Project. The result of the research was a map of the boundaries of the Gomilshansky Forests National Park in geotiff format, geographically linked in the ArcGIS environment, as well as a vector layer of the National Park's territory based on it. Conclusions. The use of the developed technology allows to determine the location of any land plots in relation to the national nature park, knowing their coordinates or uploading the Public Cadastral Map of Ukraine to the GIS project.
