The purpose of this research is to find social reflection on the novel Dhadhung Kepuntir by Tulus S., and the educational values ​​in the novel. This research is a qualitative descriptive study through the sociology approach of Swingewood literature. Content analysis and descriptive analysis were used as data analysis techniques. The data source used is the novel Dhadhung Kepuntir by Tulus S. The result of this research is that the novel Dhadhung Kepuntir reflects the social facts of Javanese society. This can be seen from the depiction; the languages, ethnic, the place, the socio-cultural background in the novel is like a description of finding a job. In addition, there are various educational values ​​that are reflected in the novel Dhadhung Kepuntir by Tulus S., including: persistence (patience, never giving up, working hard), caring values ​​(kinship, harmony, respect), religious values ​​(gratitude, noble, sincere). The depiction of the character Darmo who is always persistent in changing the fate to get the better life, can be inspiration for the younger generation to achieve their dreams.  Keywords: education value; sociology of literature; reflection

Related to the traditional belief in the Long Storage of Kalimati, this study aims to explain the relationship between various kinds of beliefs that exist in the residents of Leminggir Village, Mojosari District, Mojokerto Regency. The focus of this study is to determine the relationship between magic, religion and knowledge with the traditional belief system of society. This descriptive study was prepared using ethnographic methods and the use of J.G Frazer's theory of religious evolution because it is in accordance with the main concepts that discuss magic, religion, and science. The main object of this research is the Kalimati Long Storage. The main data source of this study was obtained based on the results of interviews with Mr. Turoikhan, an elder, a resident of Leminggir Village.The results of the discussion show that there is a belief in the people of Leminggir Village towards magic, religion and knowledge that go hand in hand. As shown by the public's belief in supernatural beings who are the cause of the drowning of children, so that in their search efforts use magic, as well as religious methods as well as the use of technological advances like a motorized boat. The benefit of this research is that it can be used as an educational medium about a culture of tolerance and mutual respect for the existence of various beliefs. Social change is more visible in urban areas. The city is identical to luxury, industry, crowds, job opportunities and places of fate. That is why many productive working age groups are urbanizing to the city to bet their fortune. The phenomenon of the city as the destination of urbanization hit all the big cities. The real impact of urbanization is the emergence of various social problems in Surabaya, such as many homeless people, beggars, and various crimes. Some people who have ordinary skills in music try to be street musicians to earn a living. The number of street musicians in Surabaya has increased nowadays about hundreds. How the life and existence of street musicians who marginalized in the society are very interesting to be studied and explored, so it can reveal factors that led to the shifting culture of singing in Javanese society, the background of a person choosing a profession as street musicians, and the description of forms of art activities done by the street musicians.

Tradisi Selamatan Buka Lawang ini merupakan bentuk upacara syukuran dalam pembukaan rumah baru untuk pertama kalinya yang diadakan masyarakat di Desa Kalipang, Kecamatan Sutojayan, Kabupaten Blitar. Fokus dalam penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan interpretatif simbolik dan nilai tradisi selamatan Buka Lawang. Desain penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif yang disusun dengan memfokuskan dalam metodhe antropologi dengan menggunakan teori interpretatif simbolik dari Clifford Geertz. Objek utama dalam penelitian ini adalah tatalaku dan juga ubarampe selamatan tradisi Buka Lawang. Penelitian ini menggunakan sumber data yang diperoleh dari obeservasi lapangan dan wawancara dengan pihak perangkat Desa dan tetua adat. Data dari penelitian ini dianalisis menggunakan teknik analisis interaktif dengan cara menyeleksi dan mereduksi data sehingga didapatkan garis besar dalam penelitian ini. Hasil dari pembahasan menunjukkan makna simbolik secara garis besar dalam tradisi selametan buka lawang ialah gambaran dari perilaku masyarakat Jawa seperti kesopanan dalam bertindak dan penghormatan pada roh para leluhur. Simbol-simbol yang terbentuk tersebut juga memiliki nilai-nilai yang dapat diambil seperti memperkuat hubungan sosial, penghormatan kepada leluhur Desa, hidup dalam ketentraman, pengingat-ingat  para leluhur.; Kata Kunci : tradisi, makna simbolik, selamatan buka lawang
