This research focuses on the Fourth Industrial Revolution and the Korean National Competency Standards. The aim of this research is to perform a comparative study of two university engineering courses to present the difference between the effect of virtual reality (VR)-based teaching and traditional teaching on learning robotics. To achieve this goal, the authors used the expert method, focus group interviews, and a comparative study. There were three hypotheses and four research questions on the relationship between teaching method and competency development. As a case study for this research, the authors chose Korea University of Technology and Education and designed a survey to assess students’ competencies. The participants were second- and third-grade university students. Quantitative data were collected from the interview forms developed by the researcher; qualitative data were analyzed using the expert method and a comparative study. A significant difference was observed between competency development in the VR class and that in a regular class with a similar syllabus. Furthermore, it was noted that different teaching methods affect competency development in different ways; VR tools develop some competencies, but not all of them. Authors found that the VR tool requires an appropriate teaching method and affects the student’s ability to develop competencies.
Multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) methods have evolved for various types of applications. In the past, even small variations to existing methods have led to the creation of new avenues for research. Thus, in this study, we review the MCDM methods in investment management and examine the advantages and disadvantages of these methods in a risk environment. In addition, we study the effectiveness of investment projects using these methods. The analysis of MCDM methods performed in this study provides a guide for the use of these methods, especially the ones based on interval data, in investment project analysis. Furthermore, we propose a combination of multi-criterial selection and interval preferences to evaluate investment projects. Our method improves on the method of calculating economic efficiency based on a one-dimensional criterion and sensitivity analysis, though our proposal involves complicated calculations.
This research deals with the theoretical and practical issues of investment support activities for industrial waste management in developed countries, based on the example of South Korea. The main goal of this research is the evaluation of waste treatment investment projects and understanding their impact on the development of environmental policies. The problems of forming the sustainable systems for controlling the disposal of industrial wastes are being studied. The authors discuss the practical application of environmental policies and modern technologies of South Korean companies in the field of industrial waste processing. The approaches of waste investment project’s evaluation are applied and multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) methods were discussed for various cases and applications. Using MCDM methods, the authors study the effectiveness of investment projects in waste treatment activities in Korea. The analyses of MCDM methods are implemented in this research to provide some instructions on how to effectively apply these methods in waste treatment investment project analyses. Furthermore, the authors propose a combination of multi-criterial selection and interval preferences to evaluate waste treatment projects. The proposed approach improves the method of calculating economic efficiency based on a one-dimensional criterion and sensitivity analysis. The main results of this research perform the investment impact and risk-analysis on the environmental policies development.
This research is focused on the technology transfer process in the automobile industry using project management tools. The aim of this research is the development of a technology-transfer model using Gantt charts and Critical Path Analysis flow diagrams to achieve a sustainable planning process in the global environment. To achieve this goal, the authors use Gantt charts and Critical Path Analysis flow diagrams. The hypothesis and three research questions are presented, which suggest a relationship between project management tools and the sustainable planning process of technology transfer. During the research, we use the case study of the Korean automobile industry as an excellent example of the technology-transfer process in global markets. A single project of technology transfer is discussed: the technology knowledge transfer from Korean headquarters to a Russian manufacturing subsidiary (Hyundai Motor Corporation). Quantitative data were collected through the open resources of the corporation; the qualitative data were analyzed through a case study and model parameter evaluation. The significant result that the combination of Gantt Charts and Critical Path Analysis flow diagrams methods improves the planning process for technology-transfer projects was found in this survey. It is noticed that (a) it is useful to apply project-management tools for technology transferring models; (b) Gantt Charts and Critical Path Analysis flow diagrams have a sustainable impact on technology transfer projects; and (c) critical paths and operational reserves in network diagrams help to optimize the planning process for technology transfer.
