This article aims to address the paucity of research into the impact of social support resourcesfamily, friends and significant otherson post-purchase emotional and cognitive dissonance amongst young consumers. For the purposes of the study, a quantitative survey was undertaken of 564 randomly selected undergraduate purchasers of smart phones at six Jordanian universities. Data analysis revealed that social support had a statistically significant impact on emotional dissonance for males in the group. It had no bearing on emotional dissonance amongst females in the survey. However, the findings indicate an influence upon levels of cognitive dissonance experienced by both males and females. Consumer cognitive dissonance appears to increase in direct proportion to levels of familial influence surrounding the purchase. This study is one of only a limited number offering empirical evidence of the effects of social support systems on post-purchase dissonance.
In this article, the impacts that moral intelligence has on green purchasing intentions in Jordan was investigated based on three moral theories (Utilitarianism, Deontology, Virtue Ethics), as well as the theory of Planned Behavior. Furthermore, four key areas of moral intelligence (compassion, forgiveness, responsibility and integrity) were discussed. A questionnaire was used to obtain the necessary primary data from 191 customers in Jordan. To analyze the results, partial least squares structural equation modeling was carried out. It was concluded that the four key aspects of moral intelligence (compassion, forgiveness, responsibility and integrity) positively impact green purchasing intentions. This research has practical significance in the fields of green marketing and moral intelligence, especially with regard to the dimensions of compassion, forgiveness, responsibility and integrity. These dimensions can thus serve as a guide for improving customers' green purchase intentions in future. Moreover, the research is important for investigations into individual and company-based environmental sustainability.
This study aims to investigate the mediating role of employee happiness in the effect of the quality of work-life on employee intention to quit. Data were collected using a questionnaire developed regarding prior related works. It was administered to a sample consisted of 122 employees selected from four fast-food restaurants in Jordan. Data analysis was conducted using structural equation modelling via Smart-PLS3; the results revealed that the quality of life had significant direct effects on both employee happiness and employee intention to quit. The first effect was positive, while the second was negative. Employee happiness had a significant impact on employee intention to quit. Consequently, the results indicated that employee happiness played a significant mediating role in the effect of the quality of work-life on employee intention to quit. It was concluded that the quality of work-life is not enough to reduce employee intention to quit, which means that organization should pay great attention to employee happiness to ensure the positive effect of the quality of life and to reduce employee intention to quit.
Objective: The present study aims to identify students’ levels of academic passion and achievement motivation considering the variables of gender, academic specialization and academic level in order to reveal the predictive power of academic passion in relation to achievement motivation. The study sample consisted of (350) male and female students chosen by availability. Method: The study used the descriptive correlational method in the research, as two scales were used, academic passion scale, and achievement motivation through revealing the predictive ability of academic passion and motivation for achievement among students of the Faculty of Educational Sciences at Al-Bayt University. Results: The study's findings demonstrated that the study group had a high level of harmonious passion. Despite a moderate amount of compulsive passion, considerable levels of achievement motivation were present. There were statistically significant gender-based differences favoring females in the level of harmonious passion, no differences resulting from academic specialty, and statistically significant academic level differences favoring third- and fourth-year students. Regarding the level of compulsive passion, the results showed no statistically significant differences by gender but did show differences related to academic specialization favoring special education specialization and differences related to academic level favoring first-year students. Moreover, the study results showed that compulsive and harmonious passions collectively explained 52.3% of the achievement motivation variance. Within this figure, compulsive passion explained 50.3% of the variance, while harmonious passion explained 1.9%. Conclusions: Based on the results, it is recommended to maintain the level of harmonious passion and achievement motivation among university students.
This study aimed to investigate the mindfulness level in terms of gender and academic achievement and its relationship to moral anxiety among adolescents. The study was conducted on a sample consisted of (390) adolescents’ students in Al-Salt city, Jordan. Two scales were used in the study, the mindfulness scale, and the moral anxiety scale. The study found that female adolescents have higher mindfulness levels compared to male adolescents who recorded a medium level and that the adolescents with higher academic achievement have higher mindfulness levels compared with those who have lower academic achievement. Furthermore, results exhibited a negative statistically significant correlation between mindfulness and moral anxiety as the mindfulness constituents (non-judging of experience, acting with awareness, and non-reactivity to inner experience) contribute to moral anxiety reduction among adolescents.
