In this essay, we look at the symbolic and material territorialization of agroecology in La Via Campesina (LVC) through peasant-topeasant processes (PtPPs) in the broad sense. The most significant examples of the scaling up of agroecology are clearly tied to organizational processes and in our perspective, PtPPs are the motor of these changes. We contend that agroecology, subjects, and territories are articulated in these processes, making up a powerful dispositive or device for agroecological transformation and scaling up. We also introduce a discussion on the emergence of a historical-political subject, the "agroecological peasantry," within the larger territorial dispute concerning the transformation of the agri-food system and living conditions in the countryside.
SCALING UP POLITICAL AGROECOLOGY IN THREE EXPERIENCES OF URBAN COMMUNITY AGRICULTURE PRESENT IN THE SOUTH OF BOGOTÁCurrently, urban agriculture has become a resilience strategy for urban communities in the face of the crisis of current food systems, since these cannot guarantee everyone's access to healthy food, free of agrotoxic and polluting products, quality and affordable prices. However, the growing phenomenon of urban agriculture has transcended familiar settings, presenting itself in diverse settings such as community institutions and processes. In Bogotá, since the beginning of the century, urban community agriculture has had a great growth, given the need of the communities to manage socio-environmental and food problems in their territories. Furthermore, urban agriculture processes have escalated in quantitative, organizational, political and functional terms. Therefore, in the present work an analysis of the processes and dynamics developed within three community urban gardens present in the south of Bogotá is carried out, in relation to the scaling of political agroecology. For this, the ethnographic method was used from a constructivist perspective, with which activities were carried out in the field to collect information, such as interviews, timelines and social cartography. This process allowed us to understand various forms of organization that can be found at the level of urban agriculture, the tools that have been developed for its escalation, as well as the narratives and mechanisms to carry out political exercises that have been used.
