Epidermoid carcinoma is a frequent tumor in the upper aerodiodestive tracts, and depending on its location and tumor, nodes, metastases (TNM) stage, its therapy and prognosis vary enormously. Its location in the hypopharynx is rare, and in children or young adolescents, this location is extremely rare; The incriminated causes and the pathophysiology of the development of these tumors at this age remain a mystery. We present the case of a young patient of 13 years old, followed for squamous cell carcinoma of the right piriform sinus, with contralateral synchronous tonsil localization, and right lateral cervical lymphadenopathy fixed at 5 cm. In the absence of existing guidelines on the management of this type of location at this age, a multi-disciplinary meeting was necessary to decide on the management of this difficult case at this age.

Pilomatrixoma is a rare benign skin tumor differentiating toward hair matrix cells usually encountered in the head and neck region. It is most frequently appearing in the first and second decades of life. Histopathological examination is essential to make definitive diagnosis. Herein, we present an atypical case of multiple pilomatrixomas. A 69-year-old man with multiple voluminous masses over the scalp. Among the three lesions, one was clinically suspicious for malignancy, it measured 17 cm and was ulcerated in places. Histopathology confirmed the diagnosis of pilomatrixoma. The tumors were removed surgically with free margins. Otolaryngologist should be familiar with this benign tumor when evaluating soft-tissue mass in the head and neck region.

Background: Cleft palates are the most common congenital craniofacial anomalies in children, and their treatment is challenging in terms of outcomes. The objective of the study was to determine the incidence of velopharyngeal insufficiency (VPI), and of the oronasal fistula after a veloplasty.

Methods: By a retrospective study, over a period of 2 years, going from January 2017 to December 2018, carried out in the department of ENT and head and neck surgery of the August 20 hospital in Casablanca, Morocco. The inclusion criteria were all patients operated on for a cleft palate. The main results were the incidence of VPI, and of the oronasal fistula after a primary repair of the palate.

Results: Out of a total of 21 cases, the average age was 4 years, and the sex ratio was 0.61, the average postoperative follow-up duration was 1 year and 9 months. VPI was found in 13 patients (62%), it was mild in 3 patients (14%), moderate in 6 patients (28%), and severe in 4 patients (19%), the frequency of VPI increased significantly with increasing age (p=0.05). The oronasal fistula was found in 5 (23.8%) patients, this fistula was more frequent when the patient benefited from the operation at an early age.

Conclusions: Age is the most important factor in the management of cleft palates.

Thyroid teratomas are rare tumors. Their degree of malignancy depends on the degree of immaturity of the tissues making up the teratoma. Usually mild in children, they are mostly malignant in adults. Their prognosis is reserved, taking into account tumor aggressiveness and rate of local recurrence and/or recurrence at distance. If surgery must be performed, radiotherapy has not proven to be very effective, and chemotherapy is used as neoadjuvant treatment or after this surgery, with a limited effect. We present the case of a 44 years old woman, who consulted for a fast-growing cervical mass, with compressive signs, who had a thyroidectomia that revealed an immature teratoma of the thyroid gland. 3 months after surgery, during chemotherapy, she accused a local recurrence, that leaded to a fatal outcome 8 months later.
