The major aim of this study was to determine how children diagnosed with autism shapes their parents" lives by specifying parents" life stories. The study group consisted of 10 parents who have children with autism. Parents who have participated in the study were determined through a preliminary interview prior to the study and in-depth interviews were conducted with volunteer parents. In the study, "Life Story Interview" list was implemented to examine the content of life stories that shape parents" lives. The data obtained from the research were analyzed using data analysis phases of interpretative phenomenology which is one of the qualitative research models. By analyzing the data obtained in the research, 10 major themes emerged. These major themes include; diagnosis, feeling, hopes and plans, concerns and questions, social reactions / stigmatization, parenting roles, coping with, sensitivity to disease, meaning of life and development. Analyses revealed that parents with autistic children undergo through a wide variety of emotions, challenges and difficulties during their daily lives and also that good coping skill is the key to normal functioning within the family which had an autistic child.
Introduction Orientation services are included in student personality services and they are services based on the program designed to help students adapt to the university. International student orientation has become an important issue for universities in recent years. The reason is to increase the number of international students with the aim of internationalization in higher education. According to the Higher Education Institution statistics on 2017-2018 academic year, there is a total of 125138 international students enrolled in universities in Turkey. This also requires some improvements and arrangements for the students. When the literature is examined, it is seen that there are a lot of studies about the problems experienced by international students but there are limited studies about international student orientation which should be among the suggestions to solve these problems. Since social media is a powerful information transfer and sharing tool in this modern world, it has become more used especially during the pandemic. It may be important to examine the use experiences of individuals in order to understand the impact of social media on individuals during the pandemic period. For this reason, the aim of the study is to examine the experiences of social media use in the pandemic of young adults who use social media actively in detail with thematic analysis. The study group of the research consists of 52 young adults between the ages of 20 and 25 studying at the university. In line with the thematic analysis, four main themes are found: "reasons for using social media", "shares", "social comparison", "self-regulation and addiction". Each theme is explained in the context of the relevant literature.
ÖzBu araştırmanın amacı Mutluluk Korkusu Ölçeği'nin Türk üniversite öğrencileri için psikometrik özelliklerinin incelenmesidir. Çalışma grubu yaşları 18 ile 33 arasında değişen 500 öğrenciden oluşmaktadır. Ölçeğin öncelikle dilsel eş değerliliği yapılmış sonra geçerlilik ve güvenirlik analizlerine geçilmiştir. Yapı geçerliliği için hem açımlayıcı hem de doğrulayıcı faktör analizi yapılmıştır. AbstractThe aim of this study was to examine psychometric properties of Fear of Happiness Scale in Turkish university students. The sample consisted of 500 university students from Trakya University whose ages ranged from 18-33. At first, linguistic equivalence of the scale was performed. After that validity and reliability analyses were conducted. Besides Fear of Happiness Scale, Life Satisfaction Scale was administered to the students. For criterion validity, Pearson Correlation coefficient was calculated between Fear of Happiness Scale and Life Satisfaction Scale. Cronbach Alpha was computed for reliability analysis. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis revealed that the structure of the original scale was acceptable for the Turkish sample. Internal consistency of the scale was found to be .89. Confirmatory factor analysis provides good fit values for this scale. There is negative relationship between Fear of Happiness Scale and Life Satisfaction Scale. The results of data analysis showed that the Fear of Happiness Scale is a valid and reliable measure for Turkish university students.
