This study aims at analyzing the field of Educational Administration (EA) through the concepts used in the field. For this purpose, the concepts used in the scientific publications of the field were discussed in terms of their relation with other disciplines as well as the reasons and results of the concept usage habits. In this context, the study was designed in the form of documentary analysis and the data was collected through documents selected based on criterion sampling. Thus, the study group consisted of 596 doctoral dissertations completed between 1987-2019 in Turkey and 930 articles published in eight different refereed journals in Turkey between 1968-2019. Content analysis was employed to analyze the data and various visual tools were used to interpret them. The study showed that EA is a comprehensive field of study, which is thought to be in two sided interaction with the concepts used in the field. It was also found that there is variety in the definition and research topics of the field although certain issues and concepts such as leadership and commitment take much more place in literature. Besides, the results displayed that the concepts used in EA literature evolve mostly around positivist paradigm and basic disciplines such as psychology and administration.

Ethical leadership is the leadership approach that principals use to regulate the communication, climate, behavior, and decision-making processes in the school. It is seen that these studies are carried out in both public and private schools. However, it is difficult to say that these studies reflect the sector and level-based view of ethical leadership holistically. Therefore, in the present study, ethical leadership behaviors of principals in public and private schools were examined at the secondary and high school levels. The study was carried out with a cross-sectional survey, one of the quantitative research designs. Research data were obtained from teachers working in public and private schools in Samsun. In this context, 400 participants' opinions were taken by stratified sampling. Software named SPSS 25.0 and Mplus 8.3 were used for the analysis. Findings illustrate that teachers perceive their principals as brave leaders in both sectors. However, it is understood from the findings that school principals have relatively low scores in respecting social values. Comparisons show that teachers working in public schools perceive their principals as more ethical leaders. In comparisons at the school level, the significant difference in finding the school principal more ethical favors public high schools and public secondary schools. Various inferences were made based on the research results, and suggestions were made.

Bu çalışmanın amacı, postmodern perspektifin eğitim yönetimindeki etkilerini Fenwick English üzerinden irdelemektir. English (1939-), eğitim yönetimi alanında aykırı ve postmodern düşünceleri ile büyük yankı uyandırmış bir eğitim bilimcidir. 1970'li yıllardan başlayarak etkin biçimde eğitim yönetimi alanında çalışan yazar, Türkiye kaynaklı alanyazında yeterli ölçüde yer almamıştır. English, araştırmalarında daha çok eğitim önderliği üzerine yoğunlaşır. O'na göre, eğitim lideri hayal kurabilmeli, hayalini gerçeğe dönüştürebilmeli, devrimci olabilmeli ve risk alabilmelidir. English, eğitimin pek çok alanında son derece önemli, günümüze ve özellikle geleceğe yön verecek fikirler ortaya koymuştur. Örneğin, English'e göre modern eğitim işlerliğini yitirmiştir; oysa gelecek, çocukların elindedir. Bu nedenle, English eğitimin amacı, okulun işlevi, öğretmenlerin rolü ve öğretim programlarının üzerinde önemle durulması gereken konular olduğunu düşünmektedir. Dolayısıyla yazar, okulların çocukları geleceğe hazırlaması gerektiği üzerinde ısrarla durur. Modern eğitim sistemini eleştiren English, eserlerinde postmodern bakış açısı ile tek bir kuram ve yönteme bağlı olmayan eğitim yönetimi uygulamaları üzerinde yoğunlaşır. Bu çalışma, English'in eğitim yönetimi düşüncesini postmodernizm ışığında betimlemekte ve sonuç olarak Türkiye eğitim yönetimi alanyazınının English'in farklı fikirlerinden yararlanması girişimlerine destek olmayı amaçlamaktadır. Bu çerçevede öncelikle modernizm ve postmodernizm kavramları mercek altına alınmış sonra da modernizmin ve postmodernizmin eğitim alanına nasıl yansıdığı incelenmiştir. Son olarak ise English'in yaşamı ve eğitim yönetimine ilişkin düşünceleri sunulmuştur.
