Using multiple-input-multiple-output processing for terrestrial multi-path channels is well known. We describe here its use in reducing a terminal's aperture for line-ofsight satellite communications. Differential delay and Doppler between a satellite-pair are equalized at the hub transmitter (for a point-to-point system employing a 2×1 space-time encoder) or the remote receiver (for a dualsatellite polarization diversity system for point-tomultipoint applications) via interference cancellation. System performance is provided for both cases.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
