Voltage Unbalance is a common type of power quality problem. Sequence components occur during unbalance in three phase system. For this reason unbalance is assessed with respect to the sequence components present in the system. Voltage unbalance may adversely affect power system components connected to the system. In this paper, for symmetric and asymmetric faults, positive sequence voltage is taken as reference to generate PWM pulses and is given to the VSI to mitigate the unbalance present in the power system.
A new method to design a Voltage Source Inverter (VSI) for power factor correction with three phase induction machine as load is proposed. The machine parameters are obtained from practical induction machine. These parameters are employed for the simulation of induction machine. The control strategy presented in this paper is based on instantaneous reactive power theory. Simulation is carried out for crane duty types in steel industry with different duration factor (DF). Simulation results under those duty types show the performance of proposed control strategy for improving the power factor in appreciable to reduce penalty charge.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
