Background: Women in their 30's, 40's and 50's have a higher incidence of low back pain due to a combination of risk factors that typically appears in the middle age. Addressing these underlying causes can significantly reduce the incidence of back pain .The objectives of the study were to assess the level of low back pain among middle aged women and to determine the effectiveness of selected exercises on low back pain among middle aged women .
Materials and Methods: A quasi experimental research design was adopted. The data were collected using Demographic proforma and Mc Caffery pain scale. 40 subjects with low back pain were identified and exercises that consisted of abdominal strengthening, back strengthening and hip stretching exercises were taught and practiced by them daily for half an hour for a period of one month. Frequency, Percentage 't' tests & chi- square were used for analysis.
Results: The results showed a significant difference in pretest and post test pain levels at p<0.001 level.
Conclusion: The findings of the study implied that LBP is a common problem among middle aged women and doing exercises regularly would help to alleviate the pain.
Breastfeeding is the best method of infant feeding because human milk continues to be the only milk which is tailor-made and uniquely suited to the human infant. All mothers should be encouraged to breast-feed their infants. When a mother, for some reason, is unable to feed her infant directly, her breast milk should be expressed and fed to the infant. If mother's own milk is unavailable or insufficient, the next best option is to use pasteurized donor human milk (PDHM). India faces its own unique challenges, having the highest number of low birth weight babies, and significant mortality and morbidity in very low birth weight (VLBW) population. Human Milk Banking Association should be constituted, and human milk banks should be established across the country. National coordination mechanism should be developed with a secretariat and technical support to follow-up on action in States. Budgetary provisions should be made available for theactivities.
Objectives: To assess the Effectiveness of Structured Teaching Program on knowledge regarding newborn care and danger signs of new born among the Postnatal mothers in Kirumambakkam PHC, Puducherry. Methodology:Quantitative approach and a Pre experimental design was adopted . 50 postnatal mothers who fulfilled the inclusion criteria were selected for the study. Non-probability purposive sampling technique was used to select the samples. The level of knowledge was assessed by using structured knowledge questionnaire. The pretest was administered to the postnatal mothers and on the same day a structured teaching was imparted to the mothers. After 7 days the posttest level of knowledge was assessed. Results: The study findings revealed that the pretest mean score of knowledge was 24.23 with standard deviation of 5.981 and the posttest mean score was 40.52with standard deviation of 8.902. the calculated paired 't' value 10.50 was found to be statistically highly significant at p<0.001 level which showed the effectiveness of structured teaching program regarding newborn care and danger signs of new born among the postnatal mothers. Conclusion: Maternal Knowledge about neonatal care and danger signs was low inspite of the fact that RCH programme is given top priority. Therefore interventions should focus on increasing level of parental education that would go a long way to reduce neonatal morbidity and mortality
Objectives: Effectiveness Of Soyamilk Administration on Degree of MalnutritionMethod: Quasi-Experimental Research design with a quantitative research approach was undertaken on 50 children. Results: The findings revealed that the soy milk was effective in decreasing mild and moderate malnutrition as the mean was 11.33 with standard deviation of 0.63 in the experimental group and in the control group the mean was 10.52 with standard deviation of 0.48 in the post test after administration of soya milk which was found statistically highly significant at p<0.001 level. Conclusion: The study concluded that soya supplementation, will bring out better all round development of children and the soy milk was very efficacious in preventing malnutrition.
