The research conducted is based on the clinical evaluation through magnetic resonance and on functional testing using the stabilometric platform, of a sample of 23 subjects with a stroke ischemic localised in the area of the middle cerebral artery. With the help of magnetic resonance, the structural changes of the ischaemic focus were determined. At the same time, the evolution in time of the ischaemia and the alteration at the level of the ischaemic area were monitored. By using the stabilometric platform GPS 400, the distribution of the load at the level of the lower limbs was analysed, as well as barycentre variations. The results obtained after conducting the study highlight the high possibility of the functional re-education of the subjects when brain lesions do not extend and no complications arise, elements underlined by imaging exploration using magnetic resonance.
The present study is based on the paraclinical and functional evaluation of a sample of 66 subjects with ischaemic stroke, to monitor the evolution of their functional parameters. The tests concerning the variation of barycentre speed within the support polygon and the curve length were conducted using the GPS 400 Posturograph, which provided us with information related to the balance of the subjects in an orthostatic stance with eyes open, with eyes closed, looking to the right, looking to the left, head tilted to the right, head tilted to the left, head in extension. Our findings highlight the balance re-education capacity of the subjects with ischaemic stroke through individualised physical therapy programs.
This papers aims at identifying the mean body mass index and body fat percentage among students from Physical Education and Sport Faculty in Iaşi. The study was conducted on a series of 297 students majoring in Physical Education and Sports, but also in Kinetotherapy and Special Motricity (bachelor studies and master studies). By determining the body mass index mean and body fat mean for students within five specialties, we managed to classify them into categories. The assessment of body mass index was conducted using the standard formula BMI= weight in kilograms/height in meters² and that of body fat using the Fat Track II body fat calliper. Research findings highlighted that the body mass index mean values for each academic year range within normal parameters. As for body fat, the mean value of all academic years ranges in the "very good" and "good" categories. Whereas most mean values range within normal limits, it must not be neglected that overweight or underweight cases were also pinpointed, which should be a warning sign for the future specialists in the field of Physical Education and Sports. Key words: body fat, body mass index, body fat calliper, overweight.
According to statistics, the incidence of ischaemic stroke is rising worldwide and it represents one of the main causes of infi rmity and disability. Studies conducted in recent years argue that due to the evolution of the health system, the reorientation of medical education towards community health represents an alignment of the medical training centres with the needs of the general population. This type of education for health should be part of the cultural life in each country. Besides the functional defi cit, patients with a stroke face depression and cognitive defi cit, and this leads to the increase in the burden associated with this disorder. The questionnaire was applied on a sample of 153 subjects (73 female and 80 male) with ischaemic stroke, who were on their second admission at the Clinical Recovery Hospital Iași. From among them, 73 had an urban background and 80 had a rural background, each of them in the fi rst 6 months from the stroke and all of them patients also diagnosed with primary arterial hypertension. The study highlights the informational shortcomings of patients with ischaemic stroke regarding the rehabilitation possibilities, the specifi c symptomatology and need to conduct personalized physical therapy programs. Lifestyle change, regular medical check-ups and blood pressure monitoring represent other aspects of which patients with a stroke are not very aware.
Tennis has become increasingly popular in recent years but the coaches, focuses on the technique and tactic in the game and less on the issues they involve playing tennis, namely unilateral increase muscle tone which leads to the appearance of scoliotic attitudes. Hypothesis: using specific means of selected, we will improve posture junior tennis players with scoliotic attitude of the spine. Material and method: the study was conducted on a junior tennis player, age11, which participated in the sessions of physical therapy with a frequency of 2-3 times per week. Results and discussion: the patient E.S. was diagnosed with "C" shaped scoliosis. Using the scoliometer we obtained from initial testing a value of 7° and the final value of only 4°. Conclusions: as a result of tests conducted confirmed the hypothesis that it was gone and that therapeutic exercise is imperative necessary to tennis players.
