In our present cohort of men on AS, we found no evidence that repeat prostate biopsy in itself posed a risk of infection. However, complications after biopsy were not uncommon and after a complication men were less likely to have further biopsies. We should aim to safely reduce the amount of repeat biopsies in men on AS.

ZUSAMMENFASSUNGSeit Dezember 2019 hält das SARS-CoV-2-Virus die Welt in Atem. Die maritime Welt wird von der Pandemie vielfältig getroffen. Reiserestriktionen schränken den Nachschub von z. B. Ersatzteilen ein und behindern den Crewwechsel massiv. Reguläre und irreguläre Kontakte zur Bevölkerung der jeweiligen Häfen ermöglichen einen Eintrag des Virus in das Schiff. Beengte Lebensverhältnisse an Bord tragen zu einer Ausbreitung des Virus bei. Wir berichten über 2 Ausbruchsgeschehen an Bord von Frachtschiffen, die in ihrer Komplexität die infektionsepidemiologischen Herausforderungen schlaglichtartig beleuchten.

The aim of this work was to discover to what extent cigarette smoking and oral contraceptives, either separately or in association, are responsible for platelet adhesiveness changes in humans. Platelet adhesiveness has been measured in 77 subjects, smokers and nonsmokers. 47 of these subjects were women both using and not using oral contraceptives. Cigarette smoking significantly increases platelet adhesiveness both in men and women. On the contrary, if no distinction is made in the smoking habits of female volunteers and they are only divided into two groups according to the use or nonuse of oral contraceptives, no significant change in platelet adhesiveness occurs following intake of oral contraceptives.

Since CY is a well-tolerated medication with partially good clinical tumor control, it seems to be a convenient, individual treatment option in progressive mCRPC patients after failure of guideline recommended therapy.
