Dental caries, a progressive bacterial damage to teeth, is one of the most commondiseases that affects 95% of the population and is still a major cause of tooth loss.Recent years have seen an increase in research activity surrounding diagnostic methods, particularly in the assessment of early caries lesions. The use of technologies as adjunct to clinical visual examination for caries diagnosis will facilitate preventive care in dentistry to lower treatment cost as well as reduce the cost and time for testing potential anticaries agents. This article describes the various technologies available to aid the dental practitioners in detecting and diagnosis ofdental caries at the earliest stage of its formation, assessing the activities of the detected carious lesion, and quantitatively or qualitatively monitoring of the lesion over time.
Successful root canal treatment depends on the thorough management of the canal anatomy. The use of periapical radiographs is essential to identify and monitor the canal's morphological variations. The C-shaped single canaled man-dibular 2nd molar probably requires a different regimen of treatment from the two rooted, three canaled version, as it is rare. Because of the importance of its true diagnosis and treatment, a comprehensive review of published information and investigations about it in addition to approaches for its treatment is necessary. Extensively damaged endodontically treated molars pose a constant challenge for the practitioner. Although the classical post and core restoration is widely used in dentistry, its invasiveness has been criticized worldwide. Minimally invasive crown preparation preserving the maximum amount of tooth structure is considered to be the main objective for restoring teeth. Bindl and Mormann described the concept of endocrown in 1999 to limit the use of root anchorages. This case report illustrates this restorative option for functional rehabilitation of a devitalized mandibular molar, presenting with a small amount of remaining coronal tooth structure.
Aim: The purpose of this study was to evaluate root canal morphology in mandibular first and second premolars among Rajasthan subpopulation in Jaipur city using cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT). Materials and Methods: CBCT scans of 740 fully erupted mandibular first and second premolars were taken and assessed by two endodontists. Inter-examiner reliability was determined. Results: The root canal morphology of 380 permanent mandibular first premolars was assessed which showed canal configurations of Type I in 73.5%, Type V in 11.57%, Type IV in 8.42%, Type III in 2.63%, Type II in 2.1%, Type VII in 2.1% and Type VI and VIII 0% of the scans. The root canal morphology of 360 permanent mandibular second premolars was assessed which showed canal configurations of Type I in 88.88%, Type II in 7.77%, Type IV in 2.2%, Type III and Type V in 0.55%, Type VI, VII, VIII in 0% respectively of the scans. Conclusion: The majority of the population in Rajasthan have Vertucci's Type I configuration in both mandibular first and second premolars. However, other canal configurations can also be found in these teeth.
Introduction: COVID-19 pandemic is the most daunting challenge for humankind in the current scenario. Healthcare personnel (HCPs) being at forefront dealing with pandemic, have been prioritized to get inoculated against COVID-19. However, literature has limited information regarding HCPs intention to get vaccinated and their concerns regarding the same. Therefore, this study was done to assess Indian HCPs awareness, attitude, and perception toward the COVID-19 vaccine. Materials and Methods: An online cross-sectional study was conducted using the convenience sampling method. A validated questionnaire was designed in English and was mailed to all the participants through link of Google form and also through social media platforms. A total of 815 HCPs responses were obtained. Results: Of the 815 responses 452 were willing for the COVID-19 vaccine. Five hundred and eighty-three HCPs have shown trust in the Science and Ministry of Health for the development of safe and effective vaccines. Four hundred and sixty-one of HCPs were of the opinion that India is going slow on the vaccination drive and 620 of them feel the need to accelerate the drive. Conclusions: High acceptance and low hesitancy for COVID-19 vaccine demands increased vaccine coverage by Indian HCPs. Addressing this demand requires possible intervention by the participation of the private sector which will help to accept the national vaccination program to a wider scale, thereby combating the future wave of the pandemic.
