In the 21st century, many changes have occurred in several aspects of life, one of which is the education aspect. Education in the era of globalization triggers comparisons of education internationally in terms of curriculum, assessment methods and student achievement in scientific literacy. The Program for International Student Assessment (PISA) is a program implemented by the OECD. Indonesia is a country with low PISA results with scientific literacy skills that are below average. Scientific literacy is the ability to think scientifically in understanding natural phenomena and solving problems found in nature. Scientific literacy ability consists of three dimensions, namely aspects of content, context and competence. This study aims to find out how the literacy skills of students in Kota Serang Junior High School in completing science on the science theme of food security. This type of research is descriptive qualitative research. The subjects of this study were 130 students of SMPN Serang City class IX who came from three schools, namely SMPN 1 Kota Serang, SMPN 13 Kota Serang and SMPN 25 Kota Serang. The research method used is descriptive qualitative research using research techniques in the form of test on the science of food security themes as many as 10 PG questions and analyzed using the Milles and Hubberman analysis method. Based on research data the quality of scientific literacy skills of junior high school students in Kota Serang is in the very low category with a percentage of 36%. If it is described in each aspect of scientific literacy ability, in the content aspect the percentage is 35%, the percentage context aspect is 35% and the percentage competence aspect is 36%.
The aim of this study is examining the learning of Integrated Sciences through PCK based guided inquiry on prospective science teacher students. This research method was descriptive qualitative involving 33 science teacher students who taking Integrated Science 1 Subject in academic year 2016/2017. The research instrument used was the observation sheet to know the implementation PCK based guided inquiry. The results showed that the implementation of the activities of lecturer and science teacher students during the learning process using PCK based guided inquiry was very good conducted.
This research was motivated by the result of the 2018/2019 national examination at junior high school in Serang District on the concepts of wave, electricity, and magnetism which obtained low scores. The aim of this studi was to determine how the misconceptions of Junior High School students on the concept of vibrations and waves using the four tiers test. This research was conducted at SMP of Serang District. The research method was a mixed method with a sequential explanatory design, and the sample in this study was 60 students from one class selected from the three schools in the district of Serang. The instrument used are the four-tier diagnostic test questions, expert validation sheets, and student interviews guidelines. The results showed that there were misconceptions of junior high school students on the concept of vibration and waves in Serang district by 58,7% in the medium category. The highest percentage of misconceptions is in the indicators distinguishing the characteristics of transverse waves and longitudinal waves of 64,2% (height), the lowest percentage was found in indicators of determining the shape of transverse waves and longitudinal waves, analyzing the relationship between wavelength, frequency, period, and wave speed is 56,7% (medium). The causes of misconceptions come from students, teachers, and the environment such as classmates.
This study aimed at identifying in: (1) planning the classroom management for the SSN classes and (2) managing the classroom, in the teaching and learning process of science in SSN schools.This is a evaluatif study which focuses on the classroom management of science learning in SSN junior high schools. The subjects of the research are SSN Junior High Schools of Pati Regency which focuses on the classroom management of science learning. There are six SSN schools, namely SMP N 2 Pati, SMP N 4 Pati, SMP N 1 Wedarijaksa, SMP N 1 Trangkil, SMP N 1 Tlogowungu, and SMP N 1 Gabus. The data were gained through observation, interview, questionnaire, and document study.The result shows that : the classroom management planning in SSN Junior High Schools in the science learning at Pati Regency are categorizes good: the science teacher SSN Junior High School the use of ICT in science learning was not taken into account, teaching materials (handouts, worksheets, modules and ICT-based teaching material) were not developed yet, the assessment planning did not complete. Process in the science learning at SNN junior High School are as categirizes good.
