Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to examine the role of corporate governance in the relationship of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and firm size to earnings management of manufacturing firms in Indonesia. Methodology: The study draws on data from 66 firms listed in Indonesian Stock Exchange from 2014 to 2017, using a multiple regression model. The present study examines the influence of CSR on earnings management, and the impact of corporate governance on the relationship between CSR and firm size with earnings management. Main Findings: The finding showed that the effect of CSR on earnings management was significant and positive. The study also finds a statistically significant negative relationship between firm size and earnings management. The evidence also shows the role of corporate governance in the relationship of CSR and firm size to earnings management is significant and negative, it means that when the firm has good corporate governance, the firms that allocate CSR funds are relatively large, then it will tend not to practice earnings management, likewise large firms with good corporate governance will tend not to do earnings management. Research limitations/implications: The present study does not include all possible other variables that influence earnings management. Further research might increase the scope of research objects by extending the study period and need to pay attention to the firm's macro factors or economic risk factors outside of financial performance so as to provide a more comprehensive picture of the results of the study. Originality/value: The study focuses on the role of corporate governance issues such as the independence and activity of the boards and their influence on earnings management. The subject analyses the possible impact of CSR and firms size-related earnings management that has received much attention from academic research, which has largely focused on studying the publications of corporate governance in Indonesia context and can be contributes thoughts about the importance of corporate social responsibility activities that are reported as a basis for consideration incorporate policy-making to further enhance corporate awareness in the social environment, as well as the importance of corporate governance to minimize earnings management practices.
This study aims to examine the effect of net income and other comprehensive income on the total of future’s comprehensive income with attribution of earning as a moderating variable. It also tests whether comprehensive income is more persistent than Net Income and whether re-measurement of the defined program is the highest predictive power for future CIs. The dependent variable was Comprehensive Incomet+1, and the independent variables were Net Income and Other Comprehensive Income. Data sources were financial statements 2014-2018 of 367 companies listed in Indonesia Stock Exchange. The empirical evidence were 1).Net income and other comprehensive income can predict future comprehensive income, 2). The CI attribution can improve the ability of NI and OCI in predicting future CI. 3). Net income is more persistent than other comprehensive income, 4). The defined program is the highest predictive power for future CIs.
This study aims to describe regional financial management which includes: planning and budgeting, implementation and administration and accountability of regional finances; and transparency which includes transparency and accessibility; as well as the accounta-bility of regional financial reporting, the effectiveness of internal and external party super-vision, and the performance of Regional Work Units; analyze the effect of the effectiveness of financial planning, the effectiveness of budget execution control, transparency and ac-countability of financial reporting on the performance of Local Government Work Units. This type of research is explanative. The number of samples in this study were 32 respond-ents. The data collection technique used a questionnaire. The analysis technique uses de-scriptive analysis and multiple linear regression analysis. Regional financial management which includes; the effectiveness of financial planning, the budget formulation process, the characteristics of the clarity of budget targets and control have an effect on the performance of regional work units. Meanwhile, transparency and accessibility of regional financial reporting and accountability of regional financial reporting have no effect on the perfor-mance of regional work units. Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is the liability of an organization that not only provide goods and services that are good for society, but also maintain the quality of the social environment and physical, and also give contribute to community welfare which they are life. The disclosure of corporate social responsibility become a liability for the company in the form PT by UU Perseroan No. 40 Year 2007 about Perseroan Terbatas, Bab V, Pasal 74. The aim of this research is to test and find the effect of size company, profitability, profile company, size board of commissioners, and leverage financial toward to disclosure of corporate social responsibility on manufacturing companies. Population of this research is manufacturing comoanies year 2008-2011. This research used judgement sampling techniques and obtained sample of 30 companies. Analysis tool used multiple regression analysis and measurement for disclosure of CSR used GRI indicators. The results show that leverage financial influence on the disclosure of corporate social responsibility. The purpose of this research was to investigate and analyze the direct effect of corporategovernance and corporate social responsibility on financial performance and their indirect effect throughefficiency. This research used quantitative approach with samples of manufacturing firms which were selectedusing purposive sampling that listed in Indonesia Stock Exchange. There were 297 observations years-firms(2009-2012). The results of this research showed that corporate governance didn’t have effect on financialperformance (ROA &Tobins Q), neither direct nor indirect effect through efficiency. In contrast, there wasempirical evidence that corporate social responsibility has positive influence on financial performance (ROA),either direct or indirect effect through efficiency. However, corporate social responsibility has negative effect on financial performance (Tobins Q), either direct or indirect effect through efficiency.
