Background – Social distancing leads to decrease in the spread of the novel virus but at the same time it shows to have a negative effect on the quality of life of the general population. Methodology - A cross-sectional survey study was conducted using an electronic version of WHOQOL-BREF scale. The demographic data was collected along with the 26 questions of the scale. We distributed this survey to the general population through electronic and social media. Results – We received 861 responses. Excluding the incomplete responses, we analyzed 832 responses. They had a mean age of 48.33yrs, majority being graduates (56.4%), majority of the subjects were males (59.25%), and there was no significant age difference between both the genders. The overall quality of life was perceived to be 3.48 and the satisfaction for health was 3.77. Most affected domains were the physical and psychological domains. Lowest quality of life responses were noted for questions pertaining to financial, transportation and sleep related. Conclusion- The quality of life in lock downs due to corona virus is affected due to social distancing. Law makers need to take care to avoid increasing this negative impact while enforcing lock downs.
Background: There is evidence regarding beneficial use of Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) on post Lower Segment Caesarean Section (LSCS) incision pain. However, efficacy of different types of TENS following C section pain has not yet been explored adequately.Methods: 96 women who had recently undergone LSCS were included for the study. The subjects were in the age group of 20 to 40 years (25.84±3.96); having pain intensity 4 or more on Numerical Pain Rating Scale (NPRS). They were divided into three groups by random allocation method; namely Group A: Acupuncture (Low/Motor) TENS, Group B: Conventional (High/Sensory) TENS and Group C: Control group. Group A and B received specific type of TENS twice a day for 15 minutes. Control group C did not receive any TENS intervention. All subjects received standard post-operative medications and physiotherapy. Pain intensity was recorded on NPRS pre and post intervention.Results: Both Acupuncture TENS and Conventional TENS significantly decreased post-operative pain intensity as compared to control group (p value <0.0001).Conclusions: Both, acupuncture and conventional TENS are equally effective in reducing post LSCS incision pain at a strong and non-painful intensity.
Background: In developing countries like India, epilepsy and its sequelae are often seen as a social stigma. Physiotherapists form a part of the team treating patients with epilepsy. Hence this survey was undertaken to assess their knowledge, attitude and perception about epilepsy. Method: This study was a cross sectional survey carried out in the urban, semi urban and rural areas of Maharashtra. The epilepsy perception questionnaire was administered to physiotherapists in the age group 18-60 years through Google forms.Responses obtained were analysed using statistical test. Results: A total of 585 responded. Out of the professionals, 38% were post graduates (n= 222) and 21% were graduates (n=122). Whereas amongst the student population, 13% were pursuing post-graduation (n=77) and 28% were pursuing undergraduation (n=164). Post graduate professionals scored higher in knowledge and perception of epilepsy as compared to the others. Conclusion: Postgraduate professionals scored the highest indicating that a post-graduate degree and the number of years of clinical practice made a difference in the awareness, perception and knowledge of epilepsy.
Aim Of The Study: To study the menstrual irregularities in female healthcare workers in the age group of 18-45 years following COVID vaccination. A self-reporting questionnaire, was designed and after being validated, Method: was administered via email and telephonic interviews to female healthcare workers in the age group of 18-45 years as they were amongst the rst to receive the COVID vaccine. From AprilNovember 2021,132 respondents, mainly from Mumbai, some from Pune, Nashik & Aurangabad completed the questionnaire The questionnaire pertained to and gathered details of two consecutive menstrual cycles following the rst dose and the booster dose of the COVID vaccine. Result: Following the rst dose of the COVID vaccine, it was found that around 26% experienced delayed menses,14% reported menorrhagia and around 12% of the women experienced severe dysmenorrhoea. Following the booster dose, 31% reported delayed menses, 16 %reported menorrhagia and 11% experienced severe dysmenorrhea. Menstrual irregularities following the COVID va Conclusion: ccination (rst & booster dose) predominantly included delayed menses, menorrhagia, severe dysmenorrhoea than experienced otherwise, followed by early menses and scanty bleeding.
Aim of the study- To compare the dynamic balance in young females with normal Body Mass Index (B.M.I.) with and without hamstring tightness. Method- It was a cross-sectional, comparative study. 22 young females were included in the study. Hamstring tightness was assessed using the Active Knee Extension (AKE) Test and based on the values; subjects were divided into 2 groups- Group A (with tightness) and Group B (without tightness). Star Excursion Balance Test (SEBT) was used to assess the dynamic balance in subjects from both groups. The data was analysed results were compared using appropriate statistical tools. The study showed that st Result- ar excursion balance test values were more in the group without tightness (p-value <0.0012) as compared to the group with tightness. Dynamic balance as Conclusion- measured by star excursion balance test is better in subjects without hamstring tightness as compared to subjects with hamstring tightness.
