Peningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran pada siswa SMP IT Daarul Istiqlal dan SMP IT Rahmat melalui kegiatan pendampingan terhadap guru-guru dalam pengembangan sistem pembelajaran online berbasis aplikasi Google Meet bagi guru-guru. Kegiatan penelitian ini dilakukan dengan melakukan proses pendampingan sistem pembelajaran online berbasis aplikasi yang disebarluaskan kemasyarakat khususnya di sekolah-sekolah sebagai pemecah persoalan pengembangan pembelajaran di era pandemi covid-19.Berdasarkan hasil kegiatan didapat simpulan bahwa pembelajaran online dapat meningkatkan proses belajar mahasiswa yang lebih mandiri, kreatif serta inovatif. Apabila materi yang disampaikan pada google meeting dirancang secara detail, dan sistematis, maka pembelajaran bahasa inggris di SMP IT Daarul Istiqlal dan SMP ITRahmat Marindal I Kecamatan Patumbakdapat meningkatkan kualitas pengetahuan siswa. Kendala yang dihadapi dalam proses pembelajaran online ini dapat dilakukaan dengan kegiatan sosialisasi lebih intens diantara guru, guru dengan siswa. Selain itu, mencari solusi alternatif dalam menghadapi kendala diantaranya siswa mencari alternatif dengan memakai modem internet pribadi, warnet, atau dengan menggunakan aplikasi wifi.id berbayar yang telah disediakan oleh pihak sekolah guna meminimalisir kendala. Secara umum, pembelajaran berbasis online ini manarik, menantang kemandirian siswa dalam belajar dan sebagai solusi terbaik di massa pandemic covid-19 yang menuntut physical distancing.
This study was about an analysis of Scientific Approach in teaching English classroom. The aimed of this study were (a) to analyze the implementation of the five scientific approach in English language teaching, and (b) to find out how the teachers comprehend the concept of Scientific Approach. The subject of this research were the English teachers of SMA NEGERI 6 MEDAN. This research used descriptive qualitative research. To answer the problems of the study, the data were collected in three ways by observing, recording, and interviewing. The data were analyzed based on Miles and Huberman (1994). The result of this study were the following, (a) the first teacher was implement the observing, experimenting, and communicating process. The second teacher was implement the experimenting, associating, and communicating process. The teachers have not implemented all the five stages of Scientific Approach, (b) it found that the teachers showed lack of comprehension relating to the concept of Scientific Approach.Keywords: Scientific Approach, 2013 Curriculum, Implementation.
The ability to make learning media is expected to motivate teachers and students in more exciting learning. But in reality, there are still many teachers who experience obstacles, especially in making learning media. The purpose of this learning assistance activity aims to provide knowledge and skills using interactive learning media in the teaching and learning process in the classroom. It is to maximize learning media (specifically Synfig Studio) that is available in the learning process. Besides, it is to help the teachers be able to make learning media more enjoyable to achieve the learning objectives to be completed. Participants in the Community Service program were 15 teachers in one of the high schools in the rural area, Bangun Purba. The learning assistance using Synfig Studio was done with lecture, demonstration, and practice methods accompanied by questions and answers. The availability of adequate expert in assisting instructional media, the enthusiasm of participants, the support of school principals in the implementation of activities, and supporting funds from the university were the critical success of the application of this activity realization. The obstacles faced are the teachers do not have prior knowledge about computer operations and limited time for training. The participants can take part in the practice from beginning to end. Besides, all teachers can complete independent tasks well, which can make computer-based learning media.
The study was aimed to to develop learning media in Writing Descriptive Text for Grade VII of Junior High School Students. This study was conducted by using Research and Development (R&D) design through six stages; gathering information and data, analyzing data, designing materials, validating by experts, revising, and final product. The subject of the study was Grade VII of SMP Ypi Amir Hamzah Medan. The instruments of data collection were gathered by administring interview and distributing questionnaire. The study conducted interview to the English teacher and distributing questionnaire to 25 respondents to get the students’ needs. The interview and questionnaire results proved that the students need English learning media which can motivate the students to understand about writing descriptive text. The product had been validated by the experts namely English lecturer and English teacher. The product result was Word Wall which is modifying House based on destination of North Sumatera. The result of experts’ validation showed that the media was an appropriate media to be used on writing descriptive text by getting the average percentage 92% categorized excellent.Keywords: Writing, Descriptive Text, Word Wall, Research and Development
Abstrak Meningkatkan kualitas, kreatifitas, dan motivasi pembelajaran Bahasa inggris pada siswa SMP Negeri I dan SMP Negeri II di kecamatan Patumbak melalui kegiatan pendampingan terhadap guru dan siswa dalam pengembangan kemampuan menulis puisi siswa. Program pendampingan ini diterapkan ke masyarakat sebagai pemecah persoalan pengembangan pembelajaran di era pandemi covid-19. Sekolah menerapkan sistem pembelajaran online (daring) dengan memanfaatkan aplikasi web. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan, dengan sasaran guru dan siswa pada SMP Negeri I dan SMP Negeri II Kecamatan Patumbak. Prosedur kegiatan terdiri atas beberapa aktivitas, yaitu (1) persiapan, (2) pelaksanaan, (3) pelaporan hasil kegiatan, dan (4) diseminasi dan publikasi ilmiah. Berdasarkan hasil kegiatan didapat simpulan yaitu bahwa meningkatkan keterampilan menulis melalui media puisi dapat meningkatkan proses belajar siswa yang lebih kreatif dan inovatif. Apabila materi yang disampaikan guru dirancang secara detail, dan sistematis, maka pembelajaran keterampilan menulis melalui puisi bahasa inggris di SMP Negeri I dan SMP Negeri II Kecamatan Patumbak dapat meningkatkan kualitas dan kreatifitas siswa. Kata kunci: Keterampilan Menulis, Puisi, Bahasa Inggris Abstract Improving quality, creativity, and motivation for junior highschool students of the SMP Negeri I and SMP Negeri II Kecamatan Patumbak in English study through mentoring activities for teachers and students in developing students' poetry writing skills. This mentoring program is applied to the community as a solution to learning development problems in the era of the COVID-19 pandemic. The school implements an online learning system with the use of web application. This activity is carried out, with the target of teachers and students of the SMP Negeri I and SMP Negeri II Kecamatan Patumbak. The activity procedure consists of several activities, namely (1) preparation, (2) implementation, (3) reporting of activity results, and (4) scientific dissemination and publication. Based on the results of the activity, it was concluded that improving writing skills through the medium of poetry could improve student learning processes that were more creative and innovative. If the material presented by the teacher is designed in detail, and systematically, then learning writing skills through English poetry in SMP Negeri I and SMP Negeri II Kecamatan Patumbak can improve the quality and creativity of the students.
