Universitas Gadjah Mada Library provides various information resources either in printed or electronic formats. The Library has subscribed to electronic information resources in the form of ejournal databases. The availability and utilization of these resources need to be evaluated. This study is a citation analysis of theses of the students from science and technology cluster of Universitas Gadjah Mada in 2015. It is aimed at identifying: 1) types of information resources used by the students in thesis writing, 2)intensity of the utilization of e-journal information resources by the students, and 3) the availability of the required information in the databases subscribed by UGM Library. The object of the study consisted of 7,925 citation derived from 222 theses of the students from science and technology cluster UGM. Data were obtained from documentation. This study used citation analysis to analyze all citations. The result of the study showed types of information resources used by the students in thesis writing were books, journals, theses, websites, proceedings, government regulations/acts, others (maps, learning materials, guides to laboratory practice), research reports and dissertations and papers. Books were information resources mostly used. Journals utilized in thesis writing comprised as much as 25% (1,997 citations) and 84% (1,685 citations) of the journals were English. As many as 1,078 citations (64%) were available and 607 citations (36%) unavailable in the journals subscribed by UGM Library.
<p>Information and communication technology has affected people’s daily behavior, including library users. Users of the library using information technology for various purposes, entertainment, access information, and to socialize. Socialization through online media has become one of the needs of the user community. Library users want to connect to friends, relatives, and others through social media. Libraries are aware of this, so as to connect with users, libraries are also using social media, one of which is Facebook. This study aims to determine the frequency of use of Facebook by the library and how the use of Facebook by the library. Researcher examines three faculty libraries in Gadjah Mada University Yogyakarta, namely Facebook Library Faculty of Geography, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences Library, and the Library of the Faculty of Agriculture. The data collection techniques use documentation on the library’s Facebook page under investigation. The data collected documentation on the Facebook page of the library was analyzed using quantitative descriptive analysis. The study results show that ISIPOL Library is a library that has the most frequent use of Facebook ie daily. The library is using social media Facebook to promote the library collections, promote events or library services, upload photos/images of activities that have been carried out of the library, develop services circulation, inform the internal activities of the library, to promote the activities of other libraries, informing various things important for users, and greets users. Each library in use of Facebook shows the activity and intensity are different.</p><p>Teknologi informasi dan komunikasi telah mempengaruhi perilaku keseharian masyarakat, termasuk pengguna perpustakaan. Pengguna perpustakaan menggunakan teknologi informasi untuk berbagai tujuan, hiburan, akses informasi, dan bersosialisasi. Sosialisasi melalui media online telah menjadi salah satu kebutuhan pengguna masyarakat. Pengguna perpustakaan ingin selalu terkoneksi dengan teman, saudara, dan lain-lain melalui media sosial. Perpustakaan menyadari hal ini, sehingga untuk terkoneksi dengan penggunanya, perpustakaan juga menggunakan media sosial, salah satunya adalah Facebook. Kajian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui frekuensi penggunaan Facebook oleh perpustakaan dan bagaimana penggunaan Facebook oleh perpustakaan. Peneliti mengkaji tiga perpustakaan fakultas di lingkungan Universitas Gadjah Mada Yogyakarta, yakni Perpustakaan Fakultas Geografi, Perpustakaan Fakultas ISIPOL, dan Perpustakaan Fakultas Pertanian. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan dokumentasi pada laman Facebook perpustakaan yang diteliti. Hasil pengumpulan data dokumentasi pada laman Facebook perpustakaan dianalisis menggunakan analisis deskriptif kuantitatif. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa Perpustakaan ISIPOL merupakan perpustakaan yang memiliki frekuensi penggunaan Facebook paling sering, yakni setiap hari. Perpustakaan menggunakan Facebook untuk mempromosikan koleksi perpustakaan, mempromosikan kegiatan atau layanan perpustakaan, mengunggah foto/gambar kegiatan yang telah dilakukan perpustakaan, mengembangkan jasa layanan sirkulasi, menginformasikan kegiatan internal perpustakaan, mempromosikan kegiatan dari perpustakaan lain, menginformasikan berbagai hal yang penting bagi pengguna, dan menyapa penggunanya. Setiap perpustakaan dalam penggunaan Facebook menunjukkan aktivitas dan intensitas yang berbeda-beda.</p>
The library needs to know the kind of literature mostly read, and whether those literature are willable in the library. This matter will be used for adding the collection in order to meet the needs of the users. The research aims to discuss citation analysis of Literature Cited in Scription of Department of Cartography and Remote Sensing on the Faculty of Geography at Gadjah Mada University 2005. The purpose of the research is, to know the kind of literature cited in scription of the Department of Cartography and Remote Sensing on the Faculty of Geography, to find out the dominant literature cited, to identify the language literature cited, and to know the availability of the literature cited in library of Faculty of Geography. The subject of the research is the scription of the Department of Cartography and Remote Sensing on the Faculty of Geography. The object of research are all citations in references of the scriptions, numbering at 2554 citations. The method of the data collection used is citation analysis. The Analysis of data is based on the percentage provided on the table. The result shows that the kind of literature cited in the scription of the Department of Cartography and Remote Sensing on the Faculty of Geography 2005 is book 1686 citations (66%), scription 295 citations (11,56%), internet source 138 citations (5,41%), journal or magazine 115 citations (4,51%), thesis 95 citations (3,72%), paper 80 citations (3,14%), research report 51 citations (2%), proceeding 36 citations (1,42%), newspaper 26 citations (1,02%), disertation 18 citations (0,71%), field work report and pidato 13 citations (0,51%). It also describes that the literature in Indonesianlanguange had been more often cited than that in English. It is 1759 citations (68,9 %) versus 794 citations (31.1%). The last, the level of the avalibility of the literature cited is found that 71,68 % where available in the library and the other 28,32% where not available. <p><strong>Abstrak</strong>: Banyaknya karya ilmiah yang sudah dihasilkan seorang penulis, tidak terlepas dari penggunaan karya ilmiah penulis lain. Publikasi yang telah dihasilkan oleh seorang penulis akan menunjukkan produktivitas penulis tersebut. Banyaknya sitasi yang diperoleh oleh sebuah publikasi menunjukkan dampak publikasi tersebut terhadap publikasi yang lain. Dewasa ini Perguruan tinggi dituntut untuk menampilkan <em>performance </em>mereka dalam hal banyaknya publikasi yang dihasilkan dan juga dampak publikasi yang dihasilkan untuk publikasi yang lain. Mengutip publikasi lain merupakan salah satu bentuk komunikasi ilmiah yang dilakukan oleh penulis atau peneliti. Makalah ini akan memaparkan pemanfaatan profile Google Scholar dalam komunikasi ilmiah dan pentingnya pustakawan memahami salah satu bentuk komunikasi ilmiah tersebut. Profil Google Scholar cukup efektif digunakan oleh institusi perguruan tinggi untuk menampilkan profil dosen sehingga akan semakin <em>visible</em> di dunia akademik online. Penting bagi pustakawan memahami tentang profile Google Scholar dan manfaatnya, sehingga dapat memberikan kontribusi dalam peningkatan kualitas perguruan tinggi.</p><p><strong>Abstract:</strong><em> </em><em>Scientific publication which produced by an author was not far from an other the author. The number of author scientific publication showed author productivity. Publication citation described the impact of the publication to other publication. University have to give their performance in the number of scientific publication which produced and its impact to other publication. Citating wa a form of scientific communication between authors. This paper figured out the usage of Google Scholar Profile in scientific communication and the importance of librarian understanding to one scientific communications. Google Scholar profile wa effective to display university lecturer profile which made it visible. Introduction. The changing reality of libraries actually is a form of communication by the library management. The Language of libraries, is a representation of libraries through language. Various definitions of libraries from the literatures are representations of libraries through language. This study aims to examine the changing meaning of libraries from time to time.Data Collection Method. Data collection was conducted by involving documentation of various discourses discussing libraries.Analysis Data. Discursive genealogy was used to analyse the data to provide changes of meaning of libraries from time to time. Results and Discussions. The result showed that the meaning of libraries continues to change. The current meaning of libraries is a room or institution where information is stored and gathered. Libraries are hubs of users' needs including space, services, and various resources to support education, research, information, and recreation.Conclusion. Various changes of meaning of Libraries from time to time show that the representation of libraries through language has changed. The meaning of libraries may change and deconstruct.
