The fragmentation under electron impact of some new 2-phenyl-4-acetyl-thiazoles has been studied. The compounds investigated exhibit intense molecular ion peaks. Substifuents in the para position of the benzene ring do not influence the fragmentation patterns but only the relative nbundances of the molecular ion and some fragment ions. However, by introducing C1 and Br in position 5 of the ttiazole some significant differences appear (' ortho effect'). A rearrangement also occurs involving a 5-membered cyclic transition state. Intense doubly charged ions are observed a fact which is attributed to the presence of two easily ionizable centres.Es wurden massenspektrometrische Untersuchungen einiger neuen 2-Phenyl-4-acetylthiazole durchgefuhrt. Die Substanzen besitzen hohe Molekulpeaks. Die Substituenten in p-Stellung des Benzolrings uben keinen Eintluss auf das Fragmentierungsmuster aus, sondern nur auf die relativen Intensitaten von Molekulionen und der Fragmentionen. Die Einfuhrung von Chlor bzw. Brom in Stellung 5 des Thiazols fiihren zu betrachtlichen Anderungen der Fragmentierung ('ortho Effekt'). Es findet eine Umlagerung uber einen fiinfgliedrigen Ubergangszustand statt. Ebenfalls sind doppelt geladene Ionen erkennbar, die durch Anwesenheit mehrerer leicht ionisierbarer Gruppen erklarbar sind.
