The present work is aimed at investigating the effect of speed , slurry concentration and particle size on Inconel-718 coatings on copper subjected to slurry erosion with the help of DOE (design of experiments) tool among which the Taguchi technique is well known. The coatings are subjected to slurry erosive wear tests in 3.5% NaCl solution (35 gms NaCl/ ltr of water) with sand as erodent. On application of analysis of variance, it is found that all three parameters namely speed, sand concentration of the slurry and particle size are significant with speed being the most significant one.
Surface coating is sharing the responsibility between coating and substrate, which enhances the surface properties such as strength, hot hardness and toughness, wear resistance, antifriction and chemical inertness. The present work is focused on wear behavior of Mild Steel substrate material deposited with Titanium dioxide-30 wt % of Inconel718 incorporating plasma spray process. These composite coatings were subjected to slurry erosion wear test by simulating the corrosive-erosive atmosphere by mixing of silica sand and 3.5 percent of NaCl in distilled water. Under identical conditions, coated mild steels gave better wear resistance compared to uncoated sample.
In internal combustion engines, only a part of the fuel energy flow is transformed into power available at the crankshaft, while the most part of the fuel energy flow is lost as coolant, exhaust gases and other waste heat flows. The focus of this study is to evaluate the performance of three-fluid re-circulating type heat exchanger to recover energy from exhaust gas The cold fluid is re-circulated to enhance the recovery of heat from the exhaust gases. Finite element model of the heat exchanger is developed based on the detailed geometry and the specific working conditions and the effectiveness of the heat exchanger is computed. Non-Dimensional parameters are introduced which makes the analysis more versatile. The effectiveness is computed for different values of NTU, Heat capacity ratios, Overall heat transfer coefficient ratio between fluid channels and the inlet temperature.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
