With IT affecting all aspects of university’s/school’s academic and professional affairs, an efficient IT governance (ITG) is required to assure that all kinds of expensive and complex information technology is appropriately governed. Despite the importance of IT; there has been limited research looking at how ITG is implemented in higher education institution or how to harness its benefits. This research focuses on how ITG is adopted and implemented in higher education institutions in UAE by considering the case of two different universities. The research proposes a theoretical framework derived from COBIT and Six Sigma to help in governing IT in higher education institutions. The framework will help in directing different processes toward evaluating any decision concerning the alignment and compatibility of IT with the overall strategies and goals of higher education institutions. This is achieved to increase services quality over time, aligning and supporting business strategies, and controlling and minimizing IT risks in order to increase stakeholder’s value and reducing cost.
This paper investigates the level of prioritization and degree of implementation of IT security in higher education institutions (HEIs) in the Philippines. A total of 95 HEIs in the Philippines were evaluated in the study. The study reveals that the level of prioritization of IT security in the Philippines HEIs is high. This signifies that IT security is prioritized and there is need to be done in the next 3 years in these HEIs. The degree of implementation of IT security in the HEIs is moderately implemented indicating that although this component is in the strategic plan of the HEIs, little or no action has been undertaken in this regard. The study further reveals that the level of prioritization of IT security has a significant correlation at 0.01 level of confidence with the degree of implementation of IT security in the HEIs in the Philippines.
Decision-making in enterprises holds different possibilities for profits and risks. Due to the complexity of decision making processes, modeling and simulation tools are being used to facilitate them and minimize the risk of making wrong decisions in the various business process phases. In this paper, we highlight the role of modeling and simulation in enhancing decision-making processes in enterprises. In addition, we show some techniques that helped enterprises in reaching effective and efficient decisions by adopting modeling and simulation tools.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
