Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kinerja kepala sekolah dalam meningkatkan mutu Tenaga Pendidik, faktor yang mempengaruhi dan upaya yang dilakukan kepala sekolah. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan naturalistik kualitatif dengan jenis deksriptif yang bertempat di Sekolah Menengah Atas (SMA) Negeri 1 Latambaga, Kabupaten Kolaka, Sulawesi Tenggara dengan menggunakan teknik pengumpulan data observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa: 1). Kinerja Kepala Sekolah secara umum sudah menunjukan kinerja yang baik dan optimal serta memenuhi standar dan indikator yang telah ditetapkan. Hal ini dijelaskan dalam “rencana kerja sekolah (RKS)” sebagai perencanaan Kepala Sekolah dalam menjalankan program kerja dan meningkatkan tenaga pendidik di sekolah. 2) Ada beberapa faktor yang mempengaruhi kinerja Kepala Sekolah dalam meningkatkan mutu tenaga pendidik diantaranya kondisi geografis sekolah, tenaga pendidik yang mengajar tidak sesuai latar belakang pendidikan, dan lingkungan yang kondusif. 3) Kepala Sekolah telah melakukan upaya-upaya yang dapat meningkatkan mutu Tenaga Pendidik melalui kegiatan-kegiatan pemberdayaan dan program sekolah seperti supervisi, musyawarah guru matapelajaran (MGMP), evaluasi diri (EDS), In House Training (IHT) dan kegiatan kewirausahaan yang diperuntukan bagi tenaga pendidik dan siswa. Berdasarkan pada hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa kepala sekolah telah melakukan tugasnya secara optimal dalam meningkatkan mutu tenaga pendidik melalui kegiatan-kegiatan penunjang peningkatan mutu tenaga pendidik dan berdasarkan pada standar nasional pendidikan. This study uses a qualitative naturalistic approach with descriptive types which are located in Latambaga 1 Senior High School, Kolaka Regency, Southeast Sulawesi by using observation, interview and documentation data collection techniques. The results showed that: 1). Principal's performance in general has shown good and optimal performance and meets established standards and indicators. This is explained in the "school work plan (RKS)" as the Principal's plan for carrying out work programs and increasing teaching staff in schools. 2) There are several factors that affect the performance of school principals in improving the quality of teaching staff including the geographical condition of the school, teaching staff who teach not according to their educational background, and a conducive environment. 3) The School Principal has made efforts that can improve the quality of Educators through empowerment activities and school programs such as supervision, teachers' lesson meetings (MGMP), self-evaluation (EDS), In House Training (IHT) and entrepreneurial activities intended for educators and students. Based on the results of the study it can be concluded that the principal has performed his duties optimally in improving the quality of teaching staff through supporting activities to improve the quality of teaching staff and based on national education standards.Keywords: Principal performance, education quality, educators
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to analyze the socio-educational interactions between teachers and students. This article also looks at a literacy activity utilized by the teachers and students and their interaction patterns. Research methodology: This research applied a naturalistic approach and descriptive qualitative research design. The data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The data then were analyzed descriptively using the Miles and Huberman analysis model, namely data condensation, data presentation, and concluding. Results: The research results show that to improve student literacy, there were two patterns of interaction: first, a one-way interaction pattern centered on the teacher as a facilitator, corrector, evaluator in literacy activities: second, a multi-directional interaction pattern occurred. Literacy activities aim to train the learners’ ability in reading, understanding and commenting. During the core activities, several aspects of the interactions occur between teachers and students, such as conveying information, explaining, motivating, and proposing to students. At the closing stage of literacy, several aspects of the interaction between teachers and students occur. Making summaries and reading about the literacy activities have provided directions for further literacy activities and conducting evaluations that have been carried out. Limitations: There are limitations to the researcher, so this research is limited to one school only with the object of research on all students and teachers assigned to literacy activities at SMA Negeri 1 Latambaga. Contribution: The study is expected to assist the schools in monitoring the literacy activities and developing student literacy, whereas, for students, this study is expected to improve their literacy and broaden their insights about technological and scientific developments.
This study aims to examine teacher strategies in implementing distance learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. The research method used a descriptive qualitative approach to the type of case study research and used a phenomenological paradigm. Because seeing the current pandemic conditions that are still ongoing. So, the data collection technique in this study was carried out online through a questionnaire distributed via google form, by asking several questions related to the problem to be studied. Then, for informants in this study were some school teachers from several regions in Java and Lampung and from three levels of education units, namely SD, SMP, and SMA. The data analysis used in this research is descriptive analysis which aims as a tool to map data and reveal the meaning behind the data that has been obtained. The results showed that the distance learning strategies used by teachers during the pandemic were predominantly effective and smooth. However, there were several obstacles that were found during the learning process, such as poor network connections and a lack of student motivation to take part in distance learning. Therefore, there is a need for effective self-development of teachers on an ongoing basis to improve competence. The role of government through policies made is also very important as a forum for increasing human resources Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji strategi guru dalam pelaksanaan pembelajaran jarak jauh selama masa pandemi COVID-19. Metode Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan jenis penelitian studi kasus dan menggunakan paradigma fenomenologi. Karena melihat kondisi pandemi yang sekarang ini masih berlangsung. Maka, teknik pengambilan data dalam penelitian ini dilakukan secara online melalui kuesioner yang disebarkan melalui google form, dengan mengajukan beberapa pertanyaan terkait dengan masalah yang akan diteliti. Kemudian, untuk informan dalam penelitian ini adalah beberapa guru sekolah dari beberapa daerah yang berada di Pulau Jawa dan Lampung dan dari tiga tingkat satuan pendidikan yaitu SD, SMP, dan SMA. Analisis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah analisis deskriptif yang bertujuan sebagai alat untuk memetakan data dan mengungkap makna dibalik data yang telah didapatkan. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa strategi pembelajaran jarak jauh yang digunakan oleh guru selama masa pandemi secara dominan berjalan efektif dan lancar. Tetapi, ada beberapa kendala yang ditemukan selama proses pembelajaran berlangsung seperti koneksi jaringan yang kurang baik serta kurangnya motivasi siswa dalam mengikuti pembelajaran jarak jauh. Oleh karena itu, perlu adanya pengembangan diri secara efektif pada guru secara berkelanjutan untuk meningkatkan kompetensi. Peran pemerintah melalui kebijakan yang dibuat juga sangat penting sebagai wadah dalam meningkatkan sumber daya manusia.
