Purpose The use of information and communication technology (ICT) has been improving in education and constantly evolving; however, the recent pandemic has catapulted it. Digital transformation of academia through online teaching demands new pedagogies to be adopted by faculty members. Academia embraces technological advancements in teaching-learning to ensure growth, development and sustainability. This paper aims to gain insights regarding the current status of literature, critical contributing authors, countries, areas, overall trends and future direction for research. Design/methodology/approach The bibliometric data was collected from two of the most widely referred databases: Scopus and Web of Science(WoS); tools like vosViewer and map builder were used for analysis. Short empirical evidence is added to the study to understand faculty members' current adoption of new pedagogical approaches in some prominent higher educational institutions. Findings Because of the corona pandemic, there is substantial digital transformation in the teaching-learning process. Therefore, it is essential to comprehend what faculty members can adopt critical pedagogies. Understanding the importance of pedagogy in learning outcomes, this study has attempted to synthesize available literature on ICT, pedagogy and higher education in the 21st century. Originality/value The study outlined flipped and blended learning as two teaching methods developed due to ICT integration in the classroom. Bibliometric insights from the study build the groundwork for academic advancement to remote online education. This is an attempt to corroborate such insights.
PurposeThis study examines students’ perspectives towards the utilization of information and communication technology (ICT), during this sudden shift to remote online education due to COVID-19 worldwide pandemic. The aim is to identify the predictors of learning outcomes and understand if they are here to exist as the new normal.Design/methodology/approachThe independent variable motivation, managing emotion, and acceptability of ICT, are examined as potential determinants of perceived learning outcomes in remote online education. An aggregate of 220 responses from the students of management graduates in higher education were collected to examine the predictors of learning outcomes using regression model in SPSS software. In addition, ANOVA technique was used to compare and assess managing emotion, motivation, and ICT acceptability of male and female students in remote online education.FindingsResults indicate that motivation, managing emotion and acceptability of ICT are significant predictors, which affect students’ perceived learning outcomes. Furthermore, the study reveals that managing emotions and motivation levels of female students are higher than male students in remote online education.Practical implicationsResearch identifies the antecedents of student learning outcomes in management education. These finding may be useful for educators and management to understand the factors influencing students' learning outcomes and to develop various modules to make remote online learning effective.Originality/valueThis research contributes significantly in investigating the antecedents of students learning outcome and provide insights regarding student’s perspective towards sudden shift to remote online education due to COVID-19 worldwide pandemic.
We investigated the status of women in corporate governance in Indian private sector enterprises. A quantitative empirical study was conducted on a convenient sample of 22 women who are members of the supervisory board or the board of directors of BSE 100 companies in India. An in-depth interview was used as a research tool. A 5-point Likert scale questionnaire was prepared to address a few objectives. The study documents that, despite the numerous misconceptions encountered in their job, women generally believe they are appreciated equally by their male co-workers. Achieving work–life balance is a significant problem because of the complex nature of women’s roles in their home and professional lives. The study also documents that women’s development in corporate governance bodies is based on the assistance they get from the more extensive system and society. Research identifies the antecedents of corporate governance and work environment. This research contributes to the study of corporate governance in the workplace. It offers insights into how women handle social bias and work–life balance to succeed professionally. The study’s outcome is helpful for all the stakeholders to understand the various factors which significantly influence women’s position in the work environment to make corporate governance more effective.
Purpose The purpose of this study is to examine the continuance intentions of working professionals to pursue e-learning courses as a path for career advancement. The primary objective of this study is to ascertain the predictors of continued intentions of working professionals to pursue e-learning courses and examine if this is a trend in career development. Design/methodology/approach Perceived usefulness of e-learning, motivation and satisfaction are independent variables which are examined using a regression model as potential determinants of continued intentions to use various e-learning platforms. Data from 240 working professionals in different sectors was collected. In addition, satisfaction, motivation and perceived usefulness among the male and female respondents are compared using ANOVA. Findings The findings showed that motivation, satisfaction and perceived usefulness of e-learning are significant predictors and have a strong influence on the continued intentions of working professionals to pursue e-learning courses. In addition, the results showed that motivation levels while pursuing e-learning and satisfaction derived from them were higher for female professionals. Practical implications This study identifies the antecedents of the continued intentions of working professionals to pursue e-learning courses on the path of career advancement. The outcome of the study can be used by educators and e-content creators to make e-learning more engaging. Corporates can also use the results of this study to identify initiatives that can encourage the pursuit of e-learning. Originality/value This study provides an important insight exploring the antecedents of continued intentions of working professionals to pursue e-learning courses as a path of career advancement. The research contributes significantly to the understanding thought process of working professionals towards their careers.
Purpose This study aims to conduct a thorough evaluation to offer a modern overview of mindfulness’s performance and conceptual framework in leadership. Design/methodology/approach This study reviews the literature on mindfulness in leadership using bibliometric analysis and systematic review techniques. This study delves into the most significant writings, leading journals, authors, organizations and nations contributing to the field and the selected methodologies and research contexts for mindfulness in leadership. Findings This study unveils three areas of mindfulness in leadership: leadership mindfulness interventions and practices, essential outcomes of mindfulness practice and emergent styles and mindfulness. Originality/value This study significantly expands the Baer et al. (2006) review of mindfulness to offer new views over their manual qualitative analysis based on a smaller collection of literature while adding the leadership perspective. Using bibliometric analysis, this study especially carries out performance analysis and scientific mapping of the collection of research publications on mindfulness in leadership. Additionally, more current studies are included to update the field.
