Cabai (Capsicum annuum L.) have various in fruit shapes, fruit colors, fruit types, hot tasty and biochemical compound useful for fresh fruit, spicy and ornamental plant. Ornamental chili ideotype that are dwarf, high fruit set and various fruit colors. The aim this study to improve description characters in Ayesha IPB variety, both qualitative and quantitative characters. The testers are 4 released varieties and 5 the other genotypes in randomized complete block design for 4 replication in green house at Leuwikopo field reserch in Darmaga, Bogor. Ayesha IPB variety showed early flower in 13-16 days after planting, harvesting for commercial bucket in 65-70 days after planting, medium plant high that is 25.218 cm, medium canopy width that is 46-53 cm, good performance in canopy, round shape on fuit tip, various fuit colors that are yellow green for young fruit, orange for intermediate fuit and orange red for mature of fruit. Those description characters could be ornamental chili for Ayesha, so it is important to protect the plant for ornamental plant commercialization.Key word : fruit, color, red, round, orange, ornamental
Introduction: Mountain papaya (Vasconcellea pubescens A.DC.) and bitter melon (Momordica charantia L.) fruit extract have total flavonoids and some metabolite from its contains. The use of a single dose in the treatment of diabetes is often considered to lack a strong effect. Giving a combination of the compound is a solution to provide a synergistic effect in treatment. Material and Methods: Rat were divided into eight groups (normal, negative control, glibenclamide as a positive control, and five dose extract group). The single dose mountain papaya extract (MPE) and bitter melon extract (BME) were given at 174 mg/kg b.w of MPE, and 380 mg/kg b.w of BME in oral administration.
The ornamental chili is valueable, but the commercial productivity still lower. It is important to evaluate ornamental chili as a new variety. The evaluation used randomized block completely design for genotypes Lembayung IPB, IPB.318092-1-4K-1-1 (G4K), IPB.318092-1-5K-1-1(G5K1), IPB.318092-1-5K-1-2 (G5K2), IPB.318320-1-3U-1-1(G3U), IPB.5.318-1-20-1(G120), IPB.5.318-3-1-1K-1 (G311K), and testers are Bara, Ungara IPB dan Seroja IPB. Lembayung IPB has intermediate habituate, middle hight plant, more number of fruits, stem purple color, purple of pedicle and flower, purple of young fruit color then changes into orange. Indonesia merupakan negara ketiga dengan jumlah perokok terbesar (Afiati,2016). Asap rokok mengandung senyawa racun organo klorin yang dapat memicu pertumbuhan bakteri Klebsiella pneumoniae yaitu salah satu bakteri penyebab bronkitis kronik (Ikawati,2011). Saat ini pengobatan untuk bronkitis kronik telah dilakukan dengan antibiotik, akan tetapi memiliki kekurangan yaitu alergi, iodosinkranasi dan dapat menyebabkan resistensi bakteri. Disisi lain, kulit kakao merupakan limbah utama dari pengolahan biji kakao untuk berbagai produk coklat. Diketahui bahwa terdapat senyawa flavonoid dari kulit buah kakao (Hu dan Li, 2011). Flavonoid merupakan senyawa yang diduga mampu menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri Klebsiella pneumoniae penyebab penyakit bronkitis (Kandou, 2016). Pada penelitian ini kami memanfaatkan limbah kulit kakao sebagai solusi pengobatan bronkitis kronik dengan menggunakan metode nanospray yang berbasis gelasi ionik. Prinsip nano digunakan untuk memperkecil ukuran zat aktif sediaan obat sehingga lebih mudah diabsorpsi kedalam sel target. Metode isolasi flavonoid yang digunakan adalah maserasi serbuk kulit kakao dengan etanol 96% perbandingan 1:10 selama 24 jam. Isolat kemudian di saring dan pelarut pada filtrat diuapkan dengan rotary evaporator sehingga diperoleh ekstrak kental kulit kakao yang mengandung flavonoid. Pembuatan nanospray isolat kulit kakao yang mengandung flavonoid menggunakan metode gelasi ionik dengan bahan NaTPP 0,1% b/v dan beberapa variasi konsentrasi kitosan yaitu 0,1%; 0,3%; 0,4% (b/v). Sediaan koloid yang diperoleh dengan ukuran paling kecil adalah menggunakan konsentrasi kitosan 0,1% dengan ukuran partikel 470,7 nm. Diharapkan dengan adanya pembuatan nanospray inhaler dari limbah kulit kakao ini menjadi langkah inovatif yang memberikan tiga keuntungan sekaligus yaitu (i) nilainya yang ekonomis (ii) sebagai solusi alternatif pengobatan penyakit bronkitis kronik yang tepat sasaran dan (iii) mampu mengatasi permasalahan lingkungan akibat limbah kulit kakao
Traditional medicine has been developed rapidly throughout the world to treat hyperlipidemia. However, the use of a single compound in hyperlipidemia treatment usually have low efficacy. Therefore, a combination of ingredients is bound to have more synergistic impact in therapy. This research aimed to examine the hypolipidemic potential of mountain papaya (MPE) and bitter melon fruit ethanolic extract (BME) in alloxan-induced rats. Forty rats divided into eight groups were used in this study. Groups are divided into normal control, negative control, positive control, as well as MPE and BME groups which divided into single doses and three combination doses. Induction of 150 mg/kg alloxan intraperitoneally were performed to generate a model of diabetes and hyperlipidemia. The treatment was carried out for four weeks of the experiment. The single and combination doses of both extracts sufficiently exhibited hypolipidemic activity (p < 0.05). The levels of lipid profiles total such as cholesterol, triacylglycerides, low-density lipoprotein, high-density lipoprotein, and very high-density lipoprotein were decreased after MPE and BME administration (p < 0.05). The combination of MPE and BME also has hypolipidemic action equivalent to simvastatin. The single and combined doses of mountain papaya, as well as bitter melon fruit ethanolic extracts, have the potential to improve the biochemical (lipid profile) modifications of alloxan-induced.
