This paper focused on identifying the role of women in the tourism sector, based on a systematic literature review of 10 journal articles from national and international journals. According to the findings, there are differences in the roles of women and men in tourism. Women have a role in supporting the tourism sector, namely in maintaining culture and tourism development. However, women’s roles are more concentrated in low-skill and low-paid areas. Women’s skills are more dominant in the accommodation sector which includes homestay services, food and beverage services, making souvenirs, opening stalls, hawking trade, cooking, cleaning public places and working in the hospitality sector. This is due to women’s limited access to education, skills in tourism, family background, physical condition, language, and ability to set their criteria. The results of the literature review were used to analyze the role of women in the tourism sector in the tourist village of Nglanggeran in Patuk, Gunugkidul, Yogyakarta. Keywords: role, women, tourism

The village government prioritizes the management of natural and human resources by BUMDes by managing its own business for the welfare of the village community. However, BUMDes, established in 2018, still has one business unit. Referring to the regulations and considering Pilang Village as a batik producer, BUMDes designed a batik tourism village business. Because there is a production house that becomes a reference for learning batik, educational tours are chosen. Running a business requires a strategy. In terms of strategy, what business development strategy should BUMDes do to get to an educational tourism village, so the goal is to design a business development strategy for the Pilang batik educational tourism village. In developing this strategy, BUMDes needs partners to solve problems. Partners, in this case, are servants from PPKwu UNS who will assist. The method to answer the objectives is by assisting BUMDes, which begins with an approach to agents of change through interviews. The result is information on the situation and condition of BUMDes as well as an agreement to assist. Companion offers a tool to help design a business model canvas (BMC) strategy. The result obtained is the agreement of business components related to the design of activities to be carried out in the business. From these results, it is concluded that the BMC design is a business development strategy for the Batik Pilang educational tourism village and can be used by BUMDes to prepare Long-Term Program Designs and Short-Term Program Designs.

<p>The objective of this thesis research was to describe the role of single parent fathers in carrying out family functions in poor communities in Nusukan Village, Banjarsari Sub-District, Surakarta City. The theory used in this study was the role set theory proposed by Robert K. Merton. This study used a qualitative approach with naturalistic inquiry research method. The sampling technique used was snowball sampling and purposive sampling. The results showed that single parent fathers had carried out family functions. For the socialization function, fathers had become teachers and role models for their children, so that the children had good character. Affection function showed that the fathers became children’s playmate, so that the children became more excited and formed self-confidence and independence. In addition, the fathers had given love and affection to their children. The status determination function showed that the fathers had provided support to the children and appreciated their potential. The protection function showed that the fathers had protected and taught discipline to their children. For the economic function, the fathers had fulfilled the needs of children’s food, clothing and simple housing. <p>The objective of this study is to examine the social life of beggars on the front stage and on the back stage residing in Joyotakan Village, Serengan, Surakarta, by using Dramaturgy Theory by Erving Goffman. This qualitative research uses the naturalistic inquiry method. In addition, the sampling technique uses purposive side and snowball sampling. Furthermore, the research informants taken are those who work as beggars. Data collection uses observation and in-depth interviews. The validity of the data uses triangulation of sources with the former management of Social Study Agency (LSK) Bina Bakat, and the head of the local neighborhood. The data analysis technique uses interactive analysis model from Miles and Huberman.</p><p>The results of the present research show that on the front stage, the actors act as <em>Me</em>, in order to be accepted by the audience. The setting of begging is done on the vital objects of the city such as the Great Mosque, PGS-BTC area, <em>Tugu Lilin</em> area, Jebres Police Station, <em>Matahari Singosaren</em>, <em>Indomaret Tipes</em>, and at Sebelas Maret University (UNS) and campus graduation events, and Surakarta Muhammadiyah University (UMS). In terms of appearance, they wear several attributes in the form of religious attributes (veils and prayer beads), supporting attributes (children, sling bags, plastic cups, and fingers), and general attributes (shirts, negligee, jackets, sandals, and clean clothes). They play sound, gesture, and expression as begging manner. The conclusion of the research is that theoretically the actor will play the role of <em>Me</em> on the front stage. However, in reality, <em>I</em> can also be seen when actors face disturbance in a show. The disturbance is in the form of rejection of the actors' presence; even the actors get a discrediting stigma from the audience, so that <em>I</em> appears as a response to the disorder. In the actors' social life of on the back stage, their human self will appear as <em>I</em>. However, the actors sometimes become <em>Me</em> when they have to take part in social activities that become the norm in society.</p>
