linical neuropsychology emerged as a discrete subspecialty in the C late 1960s and early 1970s, marked by such developments as the founding of the International Neuropsychological Society! the establishment of the Division of Clinical Neuropsychology in the American Psychological Association, and the launching of the Journal of Clinical Neuropsychology (Benton, 1987). This rapidly growing field is concerned with the evaluation and treatment of the behavioral sequelae of cerebral dysfunction. Clinical neuropsychological evaluations reveal information needed for three major functions: diagnosis, clinical management, and research (Lezak, 1983).
