The relationship between the factors of gender role conflict and shame in men was studied using a sample of 343 male college students. The results indicated a positive relationship between the gender role conflict factor scales and self-reported shame. The results of a multiple regression analysis evidenced gender role conflict factor scales as being significantly predictive of selfreported shame with the subscales of restrictive emotionality and conflicts between work and family relations accounting for significant proportions of variance.
