World has evolved to incorporate information and communication technologies (ICT) to enhance the quality of life. Internet of Things (IoT), Big Data, smart applications and industrial revolution 4.0 have emerged and become part of today's world. Smart city is part of the revolution makes use of the smart technologies to improve the quality of life and performance of urban services such as transportation, public infrastructure and utilities. Malaysia is also taking this advantage to strengthen the infrastructure and connectivity concentrating in green technology, innovation, industrial development and city info structure. Kelantan state government has taken several initiatives to support the smart city implementation in Kota Bharu. Unfortunately, the progress of the initiatives seems to be quite slow compared to other cities in Malaysia. This conceptual paper discusses smart city concept in Malaysia and other countries as well. Kelantan state government may refer to this paper to set up policies regarding the development of Kota Bharu smart city. Generic architecture will be explained thoroughly in this paper. This paper highlights several critical success factors (CSFs) that determine the successful implementation of smart city project. Several examples of smart city applications will also be described.
This conceptual research paper is written to discuss the implementation of the A.D.A.B model in technology -based and technical subjects such as Computer Science, Engineering, Technical and so on. The A.D.A.B model is a teaching design model introduced to be applied in teaching and learning at UiTM. It is a complement to the concept of Education 5.0@UiTM that has been used previously. This model is also adapted to the ODL4.0 action plan that has been introduced to implement teaching and learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. The objective of this study was to evaluate the factors influencing the implementation of the A.D.A.B model in technology-based and technical subjects. In addition, this study also aims to compare the A.D.A.B model with the existing instructional design model. The methodology that will be used is in the form of literature review and case study, especially on teaching design for technology and technical related subjects. The findings of this study found that the A.D.A.B model is better compared to other instructional design models especially in the teaching of technology -based and technical subjects. At the end of this study six factors influencing the implementation of the A.D.A.B model were highlighted. The six factors are the relationship between lecturers and students, student motivation, lecturer lesson planning, teaching methods, assessment methods and reflection. These six factors need to be taken into account in the implementation of this model in technology-based subjects.
In developing collaborative learning application, students' collaboration is one of the most important features that allow them to communicate and share knowledge virtually. In order to ensure effective student interaction, the developers are responsible for identifying the social presence requirements by eliciting the users' needs in sustaining interaction. This paper aims to highlight requirements elicitation process for eliciting non-functional requirements known as social presence. This paper also describes requirements elicitation issues, nonfunctional requirements and existing elicitation processes for non-functional requirements. Secondly, this paper focuses on implementation of documentation standards for supporting documents in extracting social presence requirements in E-learning. The methodology section highlights the development of 'Technical Guide to Support Social Presence using Documentation Standards' and also reveals the flow of requirements elicitation process in extracting social presence requirements. Next, MoSCoW prioritization method helps to reduce the possibility of the users expressing non-functional requirements terms and also improve communication problems during the early phases of the project. In summary, this study helps to reduce the gap between non-technical people and technical people in understanding the requirements needed for sustaining communication and usage in Elearning domain.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
