Thinking style is an area of interest for researchers. It influences the decision-making of individuals in every aspect of their life. Does thinking style influence the choice of learning methods? What about academic performance? This research paper's objective is to study the impact of thinking styles on the methods of teaching and academic achievement. There are 186 Albanian university students who participated in the study. The questionnaires were distributed online during the second semester of the 2016-2017 academic year. SPSS 20 and JASP 0.8.1.2 were used for data analysis. The statistical analyses utilized are as follows: distribution table, crossed tabulation, Pearson correlation coefficient, One-Way ANOVA, comparison of means, regression analysis. The study concluded that thinking style has an impact on academic achievement and not on teaching methods. The largest number of students belong to the concrete-sequential category. An additional conclusion is that students who apply different types of thinking rate the hybrid learning as most effective.
Executive function skills are skills that assist individuals in achieving their objectives. They are relevant not only to academic settings, but are also of import in other areas of life. As a result of their importance, they have become the focus of many studies. Executive function skills are essential in order to be successful in academia, as well as in the professional development of the individual. From an organizational point of view, these skills are regarded to be indispensable in increasing the effectiveness of human resources. The objective of this research is the investigation of student executive function skills and the study of their impact on their academic life. The study sample consists of 165 students at the Mediterranean University of Albania. The descriptive method and quantitative research will be used in this study. The research instrument is the questionnaire, which was distributed online. The testing of the hypotheses is conducted through the use of a 95% confidence interval. The study concluded that executive function skills have a positive impact on the academic achievement of students. The executive function skills most drawn upon by students are: response inhibition, metacognition and time management. Whereas, the executive function skills that students need to further boost are: stress tolerance, task initiation and emotional control.
In a fast-changing world, knowing one's strengths is a definite advantage. It is one's thinking style that provides such an edge. Knowing about thinking styles not only helps universities to be more effective and efficient, but also assists students in improving their academic performance. The scope of this paper is to study the correlation that exists between thinking styles and the elements of contemporary teaching methods. Another objective of this research is analyzing the thinking styles of students. The study sample consists of 186 students of universities in Albania. The statistical analyses adopted in this study are: Pearson's correlation coefficient, the distribution table, and the One-Way ANOVA test. In order to analyze the data, SPSS 20 and JASP-8.0.1.2 have been used. It ensues from the study that thinking styles affect two elements of contemporary teaching methods. Most students belong to the concrete-sequential thinking style. The element which students prefer the most is brainstorming. Further, the way in which the elements are assessed changes from one thinking style to the other.
