Abstract-Context. Considering the importance of software testing to the development of high quality and reliable software systems, this paper aims to investigate how can work-related factors influence the motivation of software testers. Method. We applied a questionnaire that was developed using a previous theory of motivation and satisfaction of software engineers to conduct a survey-based study to explore and understand how professional software testers perceive and value work-related factors that could influence their motivation at work. Results. With a sample of 80 software testers we observed that software testers are strongly motivated by variety of work, creative tasks, recognition for their work, and activities that allow them to acquire new knowledge, but in general the social impact of this activity has low influence on their motivation. Conclusion. This study discusses the difference of opinions among software testers, regarding work-related factors that could impact their motivation, which can be relevant for managers and leaders in software engineering practice.

Resumo: Conforme dados do Censo Brasileiro da Educação Superior, em 2009, o número de alunos surdos matriculados no terceiro grau chegava a 4.660. Nesse contexto, a grande dificuldade desses alunos que frequentam cursos de computação está nos conceitos iniciais da lógica de programação de computadores. O presente trabalho objetivou a construção de uma linguagem de programação baseada em LIBRAS para o ensino de lógica de programação por deficientes auditivos, utilizando uma abordagem experimental, de caráter exploratório-descritivo e empregando um estudo de caso para a validação do experimento. A principal contribuição da pesquisa foi a construção, a avaliação e a validação do framework, simplificado para a criação de programas por deficientes auditivos, apoiado por uma IDE projetada para dar suporte às atividades, e que se utiliza de um intérprete virtual. Abstract: According to the Brazilian Higher Education Census, in 2009 there were 4,660 deaf students in higher education. In this context, the great difficulty of deaf students who attend computer courses is their initial experiences with the programming logic. This paper aimed to construct a programming language based on the Brazilian sign language (LIBRAS) applied to lessons of programming logic by hearing impairment learners, using an experimental approach, exploratory and descriptive, validated by a case study experiment. Group purchasing web-sites and social network web-sites have grown exponentially in the competitive Brazilian market, which demands new strategies for customer relationship. Thus, this study intends to describe elements of the strategy implemented by group purchasing web-sites to achieve competitive advantage on the Internet via Twitter, based on the model proposed by Hart and Milstein. Initial results consider the messages sent over the network by the three largest group purchasing web-sites in Brazil during the first quarter of 2011, showing that Twitter, as social media, may generate competitive advantages for companies that use it, in spite of the main focus usually happening in the internal dimension of its use.
