Enones. -The readily accessible and stable sulfone (II) reacts with pyrazoles, imidazoles, triazoles, and their benzo analogues stereoselectively to form exclusively (E)-isomers of β-azolyl-substituted enones. Quaternization of the azolyl group with methyl triflate (IV) gives rise to salts (V) and (VIII) in quantitative yields. The substantial decrease of the LUMO energy leads to reagents possessing high electrophilicity. -(KRASOVSKY, A. L.; PISSAREV, S. A.; NENAJDENKO*, V. G.; BALENKOVA, E. S.; Russ. Chem. scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
