A study on the flora along Ismailia canal recorded the presence of 110 species belonging to 94 genera and 34 Angiospermae families. Gramineae was represented by 24 species (21.8 %), each of Compositae, Leguminosae and Cruciferae were represented by 15 (13.6%), 8 (7.3%) and 7 (6.4%) species, respectively. Five species were recorded from both Convolvulaceae and Solanaceae, while Aizoaceae, Chenopodiaceae and Polygonaceae were represented by 4 species. Three species from both Cyperaceae and Euphorbiaceae; and 2 species from each of Amaranthaceae, Malvaceae, Plantaginaceae, Salicaceae and Umbelliferae. Moreover, 18 families were represented by only 1 species. Annual species in the studied area were 73 species (66.4 %); while perennial ones were 32 species (29.1%). There were 3 trees (2.7%) and 2 shrubs (1.8%). An endemic species; Trigonella occulta which is considered as a new record to the area of the study was collected. Three species of naturalized flora are recorded which are Aptenia cordifolia, Lycopersicum esculentus and Tricticum aestivum, where there is one parasitic species: Cuscuta campestris. Six hundred and thirty specimens were collected from the studied area and prepared as herbarium sheets.
The aim of this research was to study vegetation diversity among the following habitats: field crops, orchards, gardens, roadsides, wastelands, salt marshes and deserts along Cairo -Ismailia desert road, Egypt. A total of 112 genera and 132 species belonging to 27 dicotyledons, 5 monocotyledons and 1 chlamydospermae families were recorded and identified with regional floras and available checklists. The common polytypic families were Poaceae 25 species followed by Compositae (21 species), then each of Brassicaceae and Chenopodiaceae was represented by 10 species. 15 families were monotypic. Grasses, subshrubs and sedges were represented by 21%, 3% and 2%, respectively at polytypic families only. Annuals taxa presented the highest contributions (65%) at polytypic families. while, biennials represented only 4% in monotypic families. The cluster analysis divided the studied habitats into five groups. Groups 1, 2 and 5 included the same habitats at monotypic and polytypic families, while, groups 2 and 3 contained different habitats in monotypic and polytypic ones. Field crops and orchards habitats showed the highest degree of similarity ratio 83.3% at monotypic and 60.7% in polytypic families. On the other hand, there was no degree of similarity ratios between species of salt marshes and the following habitats: field crops, orchards and gardens at monotypic families.
The aim of the current research was to study plant diversity among seven represented habitats namely; field crops, orchards, irrigation canals, Mansuria Canal, deserts, drain station and water bodies in Abu Rawash area, Giza, Egypt. A total of 107 species belonging to 92 genera and 33 families were recorded and identified with regional flora and available checklists. The common families were Poaceae (22%) followed by Compositae (12%) Brassicaceae (7%). Three species were recorded from each of Cyperaceae, Malvaceae and Zygophyllaceae, and two species from each of Amaranthaceae, Apiaceae, Apocynaceae, Plantaginaceae and Salicaceae. In addition, 16 families were monotypic. The annual species represented 53%, perennial herbs were 35% and each of shrubs and trees were 5%; while biennials species were 2%. The chorological ratios showed that the cosmopolitan taxa had the highest contribution (23%), followed by pantropicals (16%) and palaeotropicals (13%). The cluster analysis divided the studied habitats into four groups. Group one included field crops and irrigation canals habitats. The second group contained orchards and Mansuria Canal habitats. The third group included drain station and deserts habitats; while the forth group contained water bodies' habitat. On the whole, orchards and Mansuria Canal habitats showed the highest similarity value (0.543). On the other hand, there was no similarity between species of water bodies' habitat and species of the other habitats except with Mansuria Canal (0.017).
