IntroductionNursing is a profession within the health care sector focused on the care of individuals, families, and communities, and they are the backbone of the health care team. In the early period, competency includes the assessment of personal qualities of a nurse such as values, skills, judgment, and attitude. Nursing students should be given adequate training during the study period to become clinically competent nurses and must be ready to compete with the dynamic world. Objective This study was conducted to find the effect of internship program on self-reported clinical competence of BSc nursing students. Methodology Pre-experimental design adopted with 124 fourth-year BSc nursing students selected using a simple random sampling technique. For assessing the clinical competence, the researchers found a study, where a standard clinical competence tool was developed and used. The self-reported clinical competence questionnaire consists of nursing professional behaviors, general performance, core nursing skills, and advanced nursing skills. ResultsThe results of this study show that a total mean score of the level of clinical competency in the pretest was 86.2 ± 8.6 and lower compared with the posttest 208.5 ± 17.6. Majority of the students (73%) were advanced learners in the pretest and gained competence as experts (94%) in the posttest. One skilled learner found in the pretest promoted to the level of competent learner in the posttest. Conclusion Exposure to the clinical field and practice through an internship program can help student nurses to improve skills. From this study, the researchers found that the internship program has a great impact on improving clinical competence among nursing students. Background: Every patient expects safe and quality patient care. A satisfying journey during hospitalization indicates quality care. Nurses provide a significant component of patient care over a long period, compared to any other healthcare professional. This study aims to find patient satisfaction in oncology units and identify the barriers to nursing care quality. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional correlation design was used with 100 cancer patients admitted to oncology units of tertiary care hospital selected by convenience sampling. The Nursing Care Quality Questionnaire was used to assess patient satisfaction, and an investigator-prepared and validated checklist was used to identify barriers to nursing care quality. Results: The study revealed that 50% of patients were satisfied with the overall nursing care quality received during the hospital stay, and the overall barrier score to patient satisfaction for quality nursing care was 33.5%. Overall, 37% of patients were extremely satisfied with the quality of care and services they received during their hospital stay. The findings revealed a statistically significant association between patient satisfaction and the patients' employment status, type of treatment, and duration of stay in the hospital. This study also revealed that workload, lack of time, and inability to speak the local language were the major barriers to patient satisfaction. Conclusions: Patients are the hospital's consumers or customers. For the best results, hospitals should train nurses to communicate in the local language, provide adequate staffing, and adequate training.
The spacecraft electronic assemblies are subjected to severe environmental conditions during testing, launching and during orbit mission. The success of the mission depends upon the proper functioning of these critical electronic modules. The structural analyses using Finite Element Methods (FEM) assure the integrity of these components. A typical box, Array Drive Electronics (ADE), for TIROS satellites [1] is discussed in this article. The NASTRAN software was used to perform the stress and modal analyses of the box assembly with five circuit boards, covers and mounting feet. The stress analysis was performed for a static solution. As a conservative loading, 3 sigma load factor was used in the calculation of the acceleration values from the random vibration test conditions. Margins of safety were calculated. Design and material changes were recommended. The mode shapes fall in to three groups as explained in the text.
Purpose of the Study Adolescence is the transformational period of life from childhood to adulthood. Pubertal changes influence the functioning of the reproductory tract of adolescent girls. At this stage, adequate knowledge of feminine hygiene becomes vital in the prevention of urinary tract infection; if not treated, it may cause various complications in the future. Hence, every adolescent girl needs to be educated on the importance of maintaining femininity. Methods A quantitative research methodology was adopted, with a one-group pre- and posttest design. A random sampling procedure was used to find 100 samples that met the inclusion criteria. A structured knowledge questionnaire was used to get the essential data. Following the pretest, an information brochure on feminine hygiene was distributed. After 7 days, a posttest was conducted. Results The acquired data were analyzed with descriptive and inferential statistics. Around 72% of the participants were under the age of 18. Thirty percent of them did not receive any feminine hygiene information. The mean posttest knowledge score of 16.54 is higher than the pretest knowledge score of 14.31, indicating that understanding of feminine hygiene has improved. Conclusion In the pretest, 39% of hostel residents had poor awareness of feminine hygiene, indicating a need for instruction. The difference in knowledge score between pre- and posttest knowledge demonstrates the usefulness of the information booklet in enhancing feminine hygiene knowledge.
