Scientific literature contains many references to the influ ence of ingested mineral oil upon the absorption of certain of the vitamins. As early as 1927, Dutcher et al. showed that a mixture of mineral oil with butterfat was ineffective in curing vitamin A-deficient rats, and additional work by this group (Dutcher et al., '33, '34) attributed this result to the solvent action of mineral oil on carotene.
