Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of ultrasound and calf stretching in subjects with gastrocnemius tightness in plantar fascitis to reduce pain and improve functional ability. Method: 30 patients with plantar fascitis selected from Saveetha college of physiotherapy and rehabilitation center (SPARC) based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. The patients were treated with ultrasound therapy and calf stretching. The pre and post test values of pain and functional ability was be calculated using Silfverskiold test and Foot Function Index as an outcome measure. Results: The mean value and standard errors were calculated for different variables and the difference in mean value was tested for statistical significance using paired t test. P value of <0.0001 was considered as statistically significant. Conclusion: From the statistical analysis and graphical interpretation the final derived results concluded that combined therapy of ultrasound and calf stretching is found to be effective in relieving gastrocnemius tightness in patient suffering with plantar fascitis and it can be used to improve the functional activities.
Objectives: To evaluate the impact of innovative teaching programme on knowledge and skill regarding basic cardiac life support. 2 Method: quasi-experimental research design with a quantitative research approach was undertaken on 30 students . Results: The findings revealed that innovative teaching programme on knowledge and skill regarding basic cardiac life support was effective as the mean was 3.87 with standard deviation of 2.11 in pretest but in the post test the mean was 15.73 with standard deviation of 1.01 which was found statistically highly significant at p<0.001 level. Conclusion: That innovative teaching programme was found highly significant in enhancing the knowledge and skills of students on basic life support measures. 3
Objective: In the event of an outbreak, the dentist can be the first person to come in contact with an infected person; they can either unknowingly become a carrier and infect others or by following proper guidelines can prevent the possible spread of the disease and save the entire community from its disastrous consequences. The aim of this study is to assess the awareness of COVID-19 disease related infection control practices among dentists and dental students. Materials And Methods: An online questionnaire was distributed among dentists and dental students on COVID-19 awareness and infection control among dentists. The questionnaire was divided into 4 sections: the 1st one contained an informed consent form, the 2nd, 3rd, 4th sections had the demographic details (9 questions), COVID 19 Awareness (10 questions), Infection control (10 questions). The data was analysed using Epi info (version 7.2.2.6, CDC, license: public domain) software with frequency distribution, descriptive statistics and chi square test. Results: A total of 316 responders completed the questionnaire based survey on COVID-19 awareness and infection control among dentists. About 77.8% participants (245) have good knowledge and 22.2% (70) participants have fair knowledge regarding COVID 19 awareness and infection control.
Conclusion:The dentists were found to have good knowledge and practice scores, which is important to combat COVID-19. They are advised to follow the Centres of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines in their clinics, and sensitize their staff so that no stone is left unturned in defeating this pandemic.
