Curriculum 2013 provides the opportunity for students to promote learning invites students to actively participate in learning activities, and fun for the learning activity. Lessons are taught by teachers also need to instill the character of the nation based on the principles of Pancasila. This is very important considering the development of information in the era of globalization led to the decline of morality in students, degradation students’ behaviour and identity of Indonesia. This study aimed to analyze the effectiveness of inquiry-based multicultural learning using traditional games in improving the student’s character. The results showed that the average grade higher than the grade experiment control with t-count at 16.0992 to 1.9944 T-Table (df = 70, α = 5%) therefore t-count > t-table then Ho is rejected and Ha accepted. It can be concluded from this study that multicultural education through inquiry-based traditional games can improve students’ character.
The aim of this research is to know the effectiveness of multicultural education through traditional games in science learning based on inquiry learning model for developing the critical thinking ability in Junior High School Students. The research design used in this study was quasi-experimental design with non-equivalent control group design. Data were collected by using purposive sampling method of data collection. It was found that N-gain of experimental class has a higher value than the control class in the fifth aspect of critical thinking. The significance of critical thinking skills of the experimental class gained t-count = 18.712 and t-table = 2.030, while the control class is obtained t-count = 14.355 and t-table = 2.030. t-count > t-table then H0 rejected and Ha accepted. Differences in students’ critical thinking results showed that the average grade in the experiment class higher than the control class with t-test of 5.707 to 1.9944 t-table (df = 70, α = 5%). Traditional game based on multicultural learning is able to encourage a critical attitude because it makes students more flexibility in thinking. It could be concluded that traditional games based on multicultural education can improve critical thinking in the student in all aspects.
Many attempts to distill of patchouli oil from patchouli plants (Pogostemon cablin) are used the simple method, therefore the patchouli oil that produced does not have the best quality. The yield of patchouli oil is dark because it contains Fe metal. The content of patchouli alcohol compound is still low whereas patchouli alcohol is the main component of patchouli oil. Various ways can be done to purify patchouli oil, one of them is adsorption process. This study aimed to compare the advantages and disadvantages of bentonite and zeolite as adsorbent purification process of patchouli oil. Bentonite and Zeolite can be utilised as adsorbents because their properties and absorbency are influenced by the presence of pore spaces between the clay mineral bonds and the imbalance of electrical charges in their ions. After adsorption, there was a decrease in Fe content and increase in patchouli alcohol level. However, significant increases occur in bentonite adsorption, this is due to several influencing factors including activating acid type, cation type, Si/Al ratio, and pore geometry including inner surface area, pore size distribution, and pore shape. It can be concluded that in purification process of patchouli oil, bentonite has higher adsorption power than zeolite.
This article aimed to discussing the use of Digital Storytelling in enhancing students’ concept mastery. This study employed a literature review, while the researchers obtained the data from a variety of sources which were reduced afterward. The research results revealed that there were four implementation stages of the activities in Digital Storytelling-based learning with Natural Environment Exploration approach. The lesson activities assisted the students to comprehend the concepts since the learning emphasized on scientific facts. Therefore, these activities could help the learners having diverse visions, studying various concepts, and linking them directly to the real life which made the learning contextual. It concluded that the Digital Storytelling-based learning with Natural Environment Exploration approach could improve the students’ concept mastery on the Classification topic.
