Background: Academic advising is a collaborative relationship between a student and an academic advisor. The intent of this collaboration is to assist the student in the development of meaningful educational goals that are consistent with personal interests, values and abilities. Aims: This study aimed to assess academic advising and its relation to nursing students' self-efficacy. Design: An analytic cross-sectional research design was used in conducting the study in order to find out the relationship between academic advising and nursing students' self-efficacy, Both dependent and independent variables were measured at the same point in time with no prospective or retrospective follow-up. Subject and Method: The subjects of this study consist of nursing students enrolled in the four academic years in Faculty of Nursing, MTI University. Their total number was 750 students in the academic year 2019/2020. Tools were used to collect the necessary data, a structured interviewing questionnaire, Academic Advising Inventory (AAI) to assess the mode of academic advising from student's point of view and Perceived self-efficacy scale to assess nursing student's perception regarding self-efficacy. Results: The study revealed (43.5%) of the nursing students were satisfied with academic advising. While, (71.5%) of nursing students having high level of self-efficacy. Conclusion: The finding of this study concluded that the prescriptive academic advising mode is the most prevailing mode in the study setting. However, students" satisfaction and self-efficacy are higher with the developmental mode. Recommendations: staff development programs are strongly recommend to train academic advisors in the modes of advising, with emphasis on the merits of the developmental mode. Academic advisors should be provided with sufficient time for advising sessions to be able to provide their students with all their academic needs.
Background Nursing is a profession affected by conflict and stress, having essential EI skills can be helpful in handling stress and conflict Aim to investigate the influence of EI on nursing students' conflict resolution strategies Design A cross-sectional analytical study was used in this study Subjects 363 nursing students from first and fourth year Setting Faculty of Nursing at Ain-Shams University at Cairo in Egypt during the academic year 2013-2014. Tools Emotional Intelligence was measured using BarOn Emotional Quotient Inventory: Short (BarOn EQ-i: S). and the conflict-handling styles were measured using the Thomas-Kil0mann Conflict Mode Instrument (TKI). Results revealed that majority of nursing students in this study in below average area about emotional intelligence, there is a statistically significant association between nursing students' emotional intelligence levels and all of the preferred conflict resolution strategies except for the collaborating strategy , and no significant difference in the relationship between nursing students' conflict resolution strategies and their socio-demographic characteristics except for the competing and collaborating strategies and frequency of net use. Conclusion there is a statistically significant association between nursing students' emotional intelligence levels and all of the preferred conflict resolution strategies except for the collaborating strategy. Recommendations there is an urgent need to improve nursing students' EI positive and conflict resolution strategies through inclusion of nursing curricula that emphasize the two concepts.
Background: In the workplace, knowledge sharing problem is relatively common in which the individual employees with knowledge are less inclined to share their knowledge. Commitment represents something beyond loyalty to an organization. Aim of the study: To identify the relationship between organizational commitment and knowledge sharing among staff nurses.
Background: Organizational justice and Organizational commitment are very significant for ensuring sustained productivity from the employee of an organization. Aim of the study: the study was aimed to finding out the relationship between the organizational justice and organizational commitment among staff nurses'. This study, in addition to identifying the different dimensions of organizational justice and discovering the relationship between these dimensions and organizational commitment, is closely related to the strength and weakness of justice components. Setting: The study was conducted at El agouza Hospital. Research design: a descriptive correlational design. Subjects: (130) staff nurses. Tools: the data were collected using two tools selfadministered named organizational justice scale and organizational commitment questionnaire. Results: The study findings revealed positive correlations among the total scores as well as among certain types of organizational justice and commitment. Conclusion:The study finding indicated that there was a strongly statistically significant, positive correlation between total organizational justice and total organizational commitment. Also there were no statistically significant relations between total organizational justice and total organizational commitment and personal characteristics. Recommendations: The nursing and hospital leaders should foster staff nurses perception of organizational justice and commitment through a fair distribution of workload and a clear reward system.
