The main objective of this paper is to report the desmid taxa identified from four Serbian peat bogs: Pešter, Daić Lake on Mt. Golija, Crvene pode on Mt. Tara and Horgoš. Samples were collected in the period from 2007 to 2011. In total, 220 desmid taxa from 22 genera were identified. The most species-rich genera are Cosmarium (81), Staurastrum (38) and Closterium (31). Of the total number, 66 desmid taxa are new for the Serbian desmid flora. The main objective of this paper is to report two benthic, epilithic diatom species from the Raška River. Samples were collected in April, June, August and November 2011 and March and May 2012 from 5 localities along the Raška River by scraping off the stone surface using a brush. Diatom frustules were first cleaned using the cold acid method, and then mounted on permanent slides. Descriptions (main valve measurements of the populations in the Raška River), ecology, distribution in Serbia and Europe, and appropriate photomicrographs of two species are presented. Navicula jakovljevicii Hustedt and Navicula catalanogermanica Lange-Bertalot & Hofmann are rarely found in Europe and these are new distributional records. These new taxa significantly contribute to diatom floristic diversity of the Raška River.
The paper presents data on the composition of epilithic diatoms in the Raska
River. Samples were collected by scraping stone surfaces with a brush from 5
localities along the Raska River in April, June, August and November 2011 and
March and May 2012. Diatom frustules were cleaned using cold acid method, and
mounted on permanent slides. An investigation of the Raska River resulted in
description of 106 diatom taxa. The most species rich genera are Navicula
(10), Gomphonema (10) and Nitzschia (9), while other genera are presented
with one or more species. Detailed floristic analysis of the benthic diatom
flora in this river has not been conducted before. Therefore, this paper
provides a groundwork for future researches. [Projekat Ministarstva nauke

The distribution of diatoms was studied in three types of diatom communities
(epiphytes, benthos and plankton) of a peat bog on the Pester plateau. The
observed diatom flora inhabited all investigated communities, comprising in
total 250 taxa in 53 genera. Among them, 45 taxa were new records for the
Serbian diatom flora. Identified taxa belonged to different groups of algae,
however alkaliphile diatoms were dominant. New ecological data for
Encyonopsis minuta, Pinnularia isostauron and P. marchica are presented here.
All the diatoms were documented by light micrographs, and brief notes on
their morphology, distribution and ecology are provided. [Projekat
