Objectives:To analyze the factors related to the occupational stress of a Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu) nursing team. Methods: This is a descriptive study, with a quantitative approach, performed with nursing professionals from Samu service of a city of Pernambuco. A sociodemographic questionnaire and the Lipp's Stress Symptom Inventory were used. Results: The participants presenting stress (24.6%) were classified in the phases: resistance (19.7%), exhaustion (4.4%) and near exhaustion (0.5%). It was also observed an association of stress level with the following factors: gender, sleep quality, professional autonomy restriction, emotional exhaustion with work performed and work in inadequate or unhealthy physical facilities. Conclusions: Although showing low occurrence of stress, this study pointed out the profile that presents the highest risk of developing occupational stress, through the factors significantly associated with stress in the studied population. RESUMOObjetivos: Analisar os fatores relacionados ao estresse ocupacional da equipe de enfermagem de um Serviço de Atendimento Móvel de Urgência (Samu). Métodos: Estudo descritivo, com abordagem quantitativa, realizado com profissionais de enfermagem do Samu de um município de Pernambuco. Foram utilizados um questionário sociodemográfico e o Inventário de Sintomas de Stress de Lipp. Resultados: Os participantes que apresentaram estresse (24,6%) foram classificados nas fases: de resistência (19,7%), de exaustão (4,4%) e de quase exaustão (0,5%). Empathy in the nurse-patient relationship in the geriatric care setting is an important ethical aspect that contributes to the quality of the practice of nursing. The present findings indicate the need for more robust assessment tools with adequate psychometric properties and the descriptive analysis of empathy.
Objective: To identify depressive symptoms in older adults treated in primary care. Method: A descriptive-exploratory cross-sectional quantitative study was conducted with 260 older adults registered with Family Health Units in João Pessoa, Paraíba, Brazil. A sociodemographic instrument and the Geriatric Abridged Depression Scale (GDS-15) were applied. Descriptive analysis summarized the variables through percentages and number of participants. Results: There was a prevalence of older adults aged 60-70 years (n=154; 59.2%), who were female (n=186; 71.5%) and had a low educational level (n=89; 34.2%). The GDS-15 revealed that 195 (75.0%) of the older adults had no depressive symptoms. It was observed that 219 (84.2%) older adults were satisfied with their lives, 198 (76.1%) felt happy most of the time, 194 (74.6%) were in a good mood most of the time, 236 (90.8%) reported feeling hope in their lives and 248 (95.4%) mentioned feeling that it was wonderful to be alive. In addition, 135 (51.9%) older adults preferred to go out rather than stay at home, 180 (69.2%) felt full of energy, and 226 (86.9%) considered themselves useful people, although 112 older adults (43.0%) had interrupted many of their activities and 141 (54.2%) feared that something bad would happen. Conclusion: Primary Health Care is responsible for the screening of depressive symptoms in older adults to implement actions to protect and promote the health of this population. It is a guiding strategy of the care process, aimed at stimulating active aging and autonomy, as well as the prevention of health problems. This study contributes to reflections on the importance of public policies and good practices in the care of older adults.
Background:The mental health of nursing staff members influences the work process outcomes.Objective:Identify the work related factors that harms the nursing team’s mental health.Methods:Databases PubMed, Scopus, CINAHL and MEDLINE, by mating between the indexed descriptors in MeSH terms “mental health” and “occupational health nursing”. 783 articles were rescued to give a final sample of 18 articles. Integrative review in order to identify factors associated with the work process of the nursing staff that negatively affects mental health.Results:The main associated factors were work demands, psychological demands, violence, aggression, poor relationships with administrators, accidents involving the risk of exposure to HIV, stress and errors in the execution of labor activities. The main findings regarding the nursing staff’s mental health were post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, stress, major depressive episode and generalized anxiety disorder.Conclusion:Occupational nurses need to understand the complexities of mental health problems and substance use among nursing staff members to recognize, identify and care for workers at risk and offer adequate mental health care. Although the researches interests in this theme have increased, proving that all these factors contribute to the risk to mental health of nursing professionals, the protective measures and care are being neglected by managers in both private and public network . The health of nursing workers in question here is one more challenge for a profession that takes care of others in need, therefore, requires some caring with their own health.
Objetivo: Identificar as evidências científicas acerca das tecnologias educacionais na promoção da saúde do idoso. Método: Estudo de revisão integrativa, que utilizou as bases de dados Medline via PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, Cinahl e Cochrane, no período de 2010 a 2019, submetidos a uma categorização por temática. Resultados: Foram identificados 303 artigos nas bases pesquisadas e após leitura do título e resumo foram selecionados seis artigos para compor a amostra final. As tecnologias educacionais surgiram como ferramentas na promoção da saúde do idoso e qualificação de cuidadores. Os vídeos (n=1), cartilhas (n=1) e encontros grupais (n=1) foram as tecnologias mais aceitas pelos idosos, no entanto os aplicativos para dispositivos móveis e computadores tiveram maior aceitação pelos cuidadores de idosos (n=3). Além disso, os resultados destacaram que é necessário elaborar estratégias para integrar tecnologias educacionais inovadoras na assistência e em políticas públicas de saúde, ampliando seu alcance na promoção da saúde dos idosos. Conclusões: São diversas as tecnologias educacionais utilizadas na promoção da saúde do idoso. O conhecimento do perfil do público alvo é necessário para que a seleção da tecnologia educacional a ser empregada seja adequada e, desta forma, possa atingir sua finalidade, proporcionando autonomia e empoderamento dessa população.Descritores: Tecnologia educacional; promoção da saúde; idoso. Objective: To identify the scientific evidence about the educational technologies in health promotion for the elderly. Method: Integrative review study, which used the Medline databases via PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, Cinahl and Cochrane, from 2010 to 2019, submitted to a categorization by theme. Results: The search returned 303 articles on the databases and after reading the title and abstract, six articles were selected to compose the final sample. The educational technologies have emerged as tools in the health promotion of the elderly and qualification of caregivers. The videos (n=1), booklets (n=1) and group meetings (n=1) were the most widely accepted technologies by the elderly, however the applications for mobile devices and computers had greater acceptance by caregivers of the elderly (n=3). Moreover, the results highlighted the need for developing strategies to integrate innovative educational technologies in care and in public health policies, extending their scope in promoting the health of the elderly. Conclusions: There are various educational technologies used in the health promotion of the elderly. The knowledge of the profile of the target audience is necessary to ensure the selection of the adequate educational technology, and, in this way, to achieve its goal, providing autonomy and empowerment of this population.Descriptors: Educational technology; health promotion; aged.
