The tensions and socio-environmental damage have been widely discussed around the mining supply chain, so research has focused on understanding the impacts around its performance. The paradox perspective addresses the tensions of sustainability, recognizing the tensions to develop better responses and management strategies. Paradoxical tensions, when they appear, stimulate responses that feed reinforcement cycles that can be positive or negative. Thus, the objective of this research is to analyze the social impact of sustainability tensions in the mineral supply chain, with a focus on the cement industry. For this, a case study is proposed, considering the mining company Cauê, currently InterCement, of the Camargo Corrêa group, as an object of study. The methodological approach involves interviews, observation and document analysis. The results present the emerging categories of social impact, considering a post-closure context. As a contribution, the study presents the interaction between social impact and paradoxical tensions, which highlights the power disparity between agents. Furthermore, this research demonstrates the sustainability tensions that generate social impact between the main focal company actors: the supply chain, the government and the community
