Aim: Ethical climate is an important organizational characteristic that affect employees' thoughts, attitudes and behaviors. The voice of the nurses, one of the fundamental employees of the hospitals, is very valuable both in terms of the organizations they work in and the safety of their patients. However, the relationship between hospital ethical climate and voice behavior remain unclear. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of the ethical climate on oncology nurses’ voice behaviors, considering courage as a mediator. Material and Methods: The sample of this study consisted of 71 registered nurses who were employed as staff nurses in inpatient care services in a university oncology hospital, between October and December 2018. This study was designed as a predictive cross-sectional study. Results: There is a positive and significant relation between the hospital’s ethical climate and oncology nurses’ voice behaviors, and that courage has a positive partial mediating effect. Conclusion: Since the relationship between a hospital’s ethical climate and its nurses’ voice behavior contains many different variables, courage can be deemed a mediator in this relationship, but is not may directly effective on its own.
Aim: This study was conducted to explain the current situation regarding the assessment of nursing students during their first clinical practice and to determine the views on 360-degree assessment, which is an innovative assessment approach, from a multi-source perspective. Material and Methods: In this qualitative case study, individual interviews were conducted with nine instructors, focus group interviews were conducted with twenty-three nursing students, and documents were examined. Data were collected between 7 August 2019–22 November 2020. The data were analyzed in line with the descriptive analysis approach. Results: The findings were examined under two contexts: reflections on the current situation and predictions on 360-degree assessment. In both contexts, they were divided into six main themes. Conclusion: The most important issues regarding assessment of nursing students during first clinical practice were the high student/instructor ratio and the fact that only instructors are officially assessors. Participants approached positively to the 360-degree assessment, but they also shared some concerns.
Aim:The aim of this study is to determine health sciences students' readiness for interprofessional education and affecting factors. Material and Methods: The design of this study is descriptive and comparative. The study sample consisted of 561 students from 11 departments [Nutrition and Dietetics, Child Development, Speech and Language Therapy, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, Nursing, Audiology, and Medicine (Turkish/English)] of a public university in Ankara. The data were collected with the Socio-demographic Questionnaire and the Readiness for Interprofessional Learning Scale. Numbers, percentage, mean, median, t-test, Mann-Whitney U, and Kruskal-Wallis tests were used for data analyses. Results: The students had a median (min.-max.) Readiness for Interprofessional Learning Scale score of 73.0 (30-95). Students' readiness for interprofessional education significantly differed by department (p<0.01), mother's education level (p<0.01), willingness to take classes with students from other departments (p<0.01), and previous hospitalization (p=0.04). Conclusion:Health science students' readiness for interprofessional education was high. The readiness of students was affected by departments and some socio-demographic characteristics of students. Further qualitative and mixed-method research should be conducted to provide more in-depth insight into the reasons for these effects.
