In the settling experiments, the effects of flocculant type and dosage on flocculation of the fine tailings of coal preparation operation were determined. The settling rate and turbidity values were considered as the flocculation performance criteria. It is shown that the anionic flocculants were more effective especially at low flocculant dosages. Minefloc Lot X 4119 anionic polymer showed a better flocculation performance compared to other flocculants from the point of the settling rate and turbidity.
ÖzetKömür lavvar tesislerinde katı-sıvı ayırımı çökeltme tanklarında (tikinerlerde) gerçekleştirilir. Burada amaç yoğunluğu yüksek bir çamur ve tesiste tekrar kullanılmak üzere berrak bir sıvı elde etmektir. Tesisin düzgün çalışabilmesi için iyi kalitede geri dönüşüm suyu üretmek oldukça önemlidir. Aksi takdirde geri dönüşüm suyunda katı tanelerin bulunması tesisin verimli ve etkin çalışmasında azalmaya neden olabilir. Bu çalışmada, Dereköy Lavvar Tesisi (Soma, Manisa) tikiner girişinden alınan numune üzerinde anyonik flokülantlar kullanarak katıların çökelme davranışları incelenmiştir. Çökelme testlerinde flokülant tipi, flokülant miktarı, süspansiyon pH'sı ve sıcaklığı parametrelerinin lavvar tesisi ince boyutlu atıkların flokülasyonu üzerine etkileri belirlenmiştir. Yüksek pH'larda çökelme hızı artmasına karşın, daha bulanık süspansiyonlar elde edilmiştir.
Effect of Various Parameters on Dewatering of the Coal Preparation Plant Fine Tailings Using Anionic Flocculants

AbstractSolid-liquid separation is performed in the settling tanks (thickeners) in coal preparation plants. The main objective of the solid-liquid separation is to obtain a clear supernatant liquid with a low turbidity to reuse in the plant and a dense-slurry. It is important to produce good quality recirculation water for the smooth and efficient operation of the plant; or else the presence of suspended solids in the wastewater can lead to a reduction in the efficiency of the process. In this study, settling characteristics of the samples taken from the thickener feed of Dereköy Coal Preparation Plant (Soma, Manisa) were investigated using anionic flocculants. In the settling experiments, the effects of the process parameters including flocculant type, flocculant dosage, suspension pH and temperature on flocculation of the fine tailings of coal preparation operation were determined. Although the settling rate increased at high pHs, more turbid suspensions were obtained.
