Daun Lidah mertua (Sansevieria trifasciata Prain) diketahui mengandung senyawa polifenol, flavonoid dan saponin yang merupakan agen antibakteri. Lidah mertua memiliki aktivitas antibakteri terhadap Staphylococcus aureus dan Escherichia coli. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui konsentrasi ekstrak daun lidah mertua dalam sediaan gel yang memiliki aktivitas antibakteri terbesar dalam penurunan jumlah angka kuman. Ekstraksi daun lidah mertua menggunakan metode maserasi dengan pelarut etanol 96%. Variasi konsentrasi ekstrak daun lidah mertua dalam sediaan gel hand sanitizer yang digunakan yaitu F1 (10%), F2 (15%) dan F3 (20%). Na CMC digunakan sebagai gelling agent dalam formulasi. Sediaan gel hand sanitizer daun lidah mertua diuji aktivitas antibakteri terhadap Escherichia coli menggunakan metode difusi sumuran, sifat fisik (organoleptik, homogenitas, pH, viskositas, daya sebar dan daya lekat) serta penurunan jumlah angka kuman dengan metode swabbing. Hasil uji aktivitas antibakteri gel hand sanitizer ekstrak daun lidah mertua memiliki zona hambat bakteri terhadap Escherichia coli pada F1, F2 dan F3 berturut-turut sebesar 7,33 mm, 8,67 mm dan 9,75 mm. Hasil evaluasi sifat fisik gel daun lidah mertua memenuhi kriteria gel yang baik, namun memiliki daya lekat kurang 1 detik. Hasil penurunan jumlah angka kuman gel hand sanitizer daun lidah mertua paling besar pada F3 sebesar 52%. Namun, analisa statistik dengan Anova One Way menunjukkan bahwa F1 (32%), F2 (35%) dan F3 (52%) tidak menunjukkan perbedaan yang signifikan dalam penurunan jumlah angka kuman. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan gel hand sanitizer ekstrak daun lidah mertua memiliki kemampuan dalam menurunkan angka kuman dan dapat digunakan sebagai alternatif sebagai sediaan gel hand sanitizer. The evaluation of the antibacterial activity of hand sanitizer gel leaves was performed against Escherichia coli using disc diffusion method, meanwhile physical properties (organoleptic, homogeneity, pH, viscosity, dispersion and adhesion) and a decrease in the germ numbers were determined by swabbing method. The results of the antibacterial evaluation of gel hand sanitizer activity showed that lidah Mertua leaves extract had a bacterial inhibition zone against Escherichia coli in F1, F2 and F3 of 7.33 mm, 8.67 mm and 9.75 mm respectively. The results of the evaluation of the physical properties of the lidah mertua leaves extract showed that the gel met criteria of a good gel, but had adhesion less than 1 second. The highest activity in decreasing term number was shown in gel hand sanitizer of lidah mertua leaves extract at F3 which was 52%. However, statistical analysis using Anova One Way showed that F1 (32%), F2 (35%) and F3 (52%) did not show a significant difference in decreasing germ numbers. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that the hand sanitizer gel from the extract of lidah mertua leaves has the ability to reduce the number of germs and can be used as an alternative as a gel hand sanitizer dosage form
Fungal infections that occur in the skin and nails were caused by fungi such as Candida albicans and Trichophyton mentagrophytes. Aloe vera contains saponins and acemannan that were effective as an antifungal. This study aims to determine the effect of carbopol concentration variation on aloe vera gel to antifungal activity of Candida albicans and Trichophyton mentagrophytes.Aloe vera powder was obtained from freeze drying aloe vera juice which had been frozen. Aloe vera powder was formulated in gel form using carbopol base with concentration 0.5; 1.0; 1.5; and 2.0 %w/w. The aloe vera gel was tested for its physical properties and then tested the antifungal activity using the diffusion method of wells.The result of evaluation of physical properties showed the high concentration of carbopol then pH, viscosity, adhesiveness increased, and spreading capacity decreased. The results of antifungal activity test showed that aloe vera powder had activity on Candida albicans and Trichophyton mentagrophytes with inhibition zone of 15 ± 3 mm and 13 ± 0,5 mm. Aloe vera gel test results with variation of carbopol concentration 0.5; 1.0; 1.5; and 2.0 %w/w did not affect the antifungal activity of Candida albicans and Trichophyton mentagrophytes.
Objective: The purpose of this research was to determine antioxidant activity of green tea leaf extract, the value of sun protection factor (SPF),physical properties, and stability of green tea cream.Methods: Green tea leaf extract was obtained by maceration using 96% ethanol. Cream was prepared in three formulas with various concentrationof the green tea leaves extract. The physical evaluations included organoleptic, pH, viscosity, adhesion, spreadability, and stability tests weredone. The determination of the SPF value is calculated using the Mansur equation. Extract of green tea leaf has strong antioxidant activity(IC50 2.19 μg/ml).Results: The green tea leaf extract showed high antioxidant activity (2.19 μg/m). All formulas are organoleptically creamy brownish-green to brown,with a distinctive green tea odor and homogeneous. All formulas met the requirements of physical properties of cream. The creams showed significantchange while they were stored at 4°C and at 40±2°C, but showed no difference when they were stored ad 26°C. SPF values of cream are 0.54; 2.03,and 2.41, respectively.Conclusions: It is clearly indicated that the sunscreen cream of green tea leaf extract is potential to be further developed as cosmetic preparations.
ABSTRAKDesa Cabeyan di Kecamatan Bendosari, Sukoharjo memiliki lahan pekarangan yang sebagian dimanfaatkan untuk budi daya berbagai tanaman sayur, buah, dan tanaman obat. Tujuan dari kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini yaitu untuk mengoptimalkan pemanfaatan lahan pekarangan, terutama untuk budi daya tanaman empon-empon dan pengolahan empon-empon. Sasaran yang dituju yaitu Kelompok Wanita Tani (KWT) desa Cabeyan, agar dapat meningkatkan kesejahteraan melalui pemanfaatan lahan pekarangan. Metode yang digunakan dalam pengabdian ini yaitu dengan edukasi kepada anggota KWT yang disampaikan secara lisan, dilanjutkan dengan praktik pembuatan produk dari empon-empon. Hasil analisis pre-test dan post-test menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pemahaman dari KWT terkait pemanfaatan lahan pekarangan untuk budi daya empon-empon, dari 61% menjadi 86%, dan peningkatan keterampilan dari KWT dalam mengolah empon-empon menjadi produk serbuk minuman instan. Kata kunci: pekarangan, tanaman obat keluarga, Kelompok Wanita Tani, desa Cabeyan ABSTRACT Cabeyan Village in Bendosari Sub-district, Sukoharjo has a yard which is partly used for cultivating various vegetables, fruit and medicinal plants. The purpose of this community service activity is to optimize the use of yard land, especially for empon-empon plant cultivation and empon-empon processing. The intended target is the Women Farmers Group (KWT) in Cabeyan village, in order to improve welfare through the use of yard land. The method used in this service is education to KWT members which is delivered orally, followed by the practice of making products from empon-empon. The results of the pre-test and post-test analysis showed an increase in KWT's understanding regarding the use of yard land for empon-empon cultivation, from 61% to 86%, and an increase in KWT's skills in processing empon-empon into instant drink powder products.
Peningkatan imun tubuh merupakan salah satu himbauan pemerintah untuk pencegahan penyakit semenjak terjadi pandemi virus Covid-19 yang sampai saat ini belum ditemukan obatnya. Tujuan dari kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah melakukan sosialisasi pemanfaatan tanaman obat keluarga/empon-empon untuk pencegahan paparan Covid-19 di Desa Cabeyan, Bendosari, Sukoharjo dimana pemahaman warga terkait pencegahan penyakit masih kurang serta belum pernah ada edukasi kepada masyarakat terkait upaya untuk meningkatkan imunitas. Tahapan yang digunakan dalam kegiatan ini antara lain penetapan lokasi sasaran, peninjauan dan observasi lokasi sasaran, perencanaan rancangan dan materi, pengorganisiasian perijinan kegiatan, apersepsi kegiatan, pelaksanaan kegiatan, pelaporan, evaluasi dan tindak lanjut. Penyampaian materi pemanfaatan tanaman obat keluarga menggunakan metode penyuluhan yang meliputi ceramah dan diskusi. Evaluasi menggunakan penilaian kuesioner pre dan post tes yang menunjukkan bahwa terdapat peningkatan pengetahuan pada semua peserta mengenai materi manfaat obat tradisional, pengolahan bahan alam menjadi obat dan penggunaan bahan alam dengan aman.
