North Sumatra is known as a heterogeneous society as well as other provinces in Indonesia, diversity is seen in differences in religion, culture and so forth. This condition certainly has the potential to cause social conflict to disrupt religious harmony. On the other hand, North Sumatra is known as a province that is wise in handling socio-religious conflicts that occur in society. This study uses a qualitative approach in which the type of research is phenomenology (phainomenon). In collecting data, the author uses the method of observation and direct interviews which are both participative and non-participative, namely observations involving religious leaders and officials who have authority in religious institutions in North Sumatra. The conclusions in this study noted that the portrait of diversity was seen in religious and cultural entities. The diversity of religions in this region is recorded that there are 6 religions served by the government, namely Islam 65.45%, Christian 26.62%, Catholic 4.78%, Hindu 0.19%, Buddhist 2.82%, Confucianism 0, 14%. Cultural entities recorded that there were eight ethnic groups added with several ethnic immigrants. The eight indigenous ethnicities are Malay, Batak Toba, Batak Angkola, Mandailing, Simalungun, Karo, Nias, and Pakpak / Dairi. Meanwhile, the potential of this area in realizing a tolerant life is the use of religious values and local wisdom as a means of establishing a tolerant attitude. And support from the government, religious leaders and the availability of communication platforms between religious leaders such as FKUB.
The environment is a global problem, in fact it is a humanitarian problem that is so complex that it is handled collectively. Population pollution is getting denser and more crowded coupled with limited natural resources and even the influence of digital media, modern technology which is often used for profit and even exploiting natural resources for personal or group gain, thus reducing the quality of nature. Islam has strong teachings about ethics towards the environment, very devastating events have often been experienced lately, namely floods, illegal logging, forest burning and the most existing ones until now are the Covid-19 epidemic, of course we realize that the impact of These incidents are very disturbing to the sustainability of the human environment. "Besides that, a number of other forms of environmental damage must be a very valuable lesson." Humans have an important influence in the sustainability of the ecosystem and human habitat itself, the actions taken or policies. about the relationship with the environment is clearly very influential for a good environment and human life itself. ”Normatively, religion calls on all humans to preserve and have ethics towards the environment, the relationship between the two is harmonious.
Moderasi beragama dapat dipahami sebuah sikap keagamaan yang tepat ditengah-tengah masyarakat yang plural. Indikator moderasi beragama yakni komitmen kebangsaan, toleransi dan sikap anti kekerasan. Fokus penelitian ini secara spesifik melihat peranan FKUB sebagai institusi keagamaan yang sudah eksis di Kota Medan, posisinya diharapkan memberikan edukasi kepada masyarakat terkait aktualitas pemahaman beragama yang moderat. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan melihat beberapa indikator moderasi beragama yang laksanakan FKUB Medan, pengumpulan data dilaksanakan dengan wawancara langsung dan focus group discussion terkait moderasi beragama di kota Medan. Hasil dari penelitian ini antara lain FKUB sebagai institusi keagamaan di Kota Medan menerima secara utuh konsep moderasi beragama dan merasakan urgensinya diterapkan ditengah-tengah masyarakat, dalam operasionalnya berbagai macam dilakukan antara lain mensosialisasikan konsep kerukunan antar umat beragama baik melalui media digital maupun cetak, selain itu melaksanakan kegiatan dialog dengan menghadirkan berbagai elemen masyarakat, unsur pemerintahan, dialog antar pemuka agama, guru dan penyuluh agama, para jurnalis serta kelompok pelajar di Kota Medan.
<p><strong><em>Abstrac</em></strong><strong><em>k </em></strong></p><p><em>Religion is understood as a universal phenomenon in human life as a whole, from the primitive to the ultra-modern, with such conditions humans are often defined as religious creatures. </em><em>In a sociological perspective, religion is seen as a belief system that is manifested in certain social behaviors related to human religious practice. So that every behavior he plays will be related to the belief system of the religious teachings he adheres to. Human religious behavior in social studies is played by the strength of the values </em><em></em><em>of religious teachings that were internalized before. This study uses a sociological approach to religion which is understood from a sociological perspective as a social phenomenon displayed by humans and community groups. Religion and religious behavior grow and develop from a sense of human dependence on supernatural powers which they feel as a source of life. Therefore, in a sociological perspective, there are several efforts and aspects that are very important in religion, namely: Belief (Religious Belief, Ritual and Ceremony (Religious Ritiual), Personal Experience (Religious Experience), Moral Community (Religious Community). The purpose of this study is to understand social phenomena related to various human expressions in religion, both in worship and muamalat. The importance of a sociological approach in understanding religion can be understood because there are many religious teachings related to social problems, so this study is a contribution and solution to the social problems of religious communities.</em><strong><em></em></strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><em><strong>Keywords: </strong>Expression, Religion and Sociology.</em></p>
