This study was designed with an aim to search for an answer to the question what is the current situation of the studies conducted on business ethics in the business management literature in Turkey. Within the scope of the study, 81 postgraduate theses prepared in the field of business management were examined in terms of methodology. In the analysis, it was seen that the majority of the theses were quantitative studies using the survey method as the data acquisition method. As a result of the analyses performed, it was detected that the theses on business ethics in Turkey shaped under the domination of positivist paradigm methodologically. However, most of the postgraduate theses were carried out in a superficial context, neglecting the requirements of positivist paradigm. In line with the findings obtained, it was concluded that the majority of the postgraduate theses on business ethics in Turkey were superficial studies ignoring the complicated nature of business ethics.
Women are an important part of today's business life. Nevertheless, research shows that gender discrimination is a frequently encountered problem in working life. These findings, however, focus on gender discrimination within the enterprise. In other words, gender discrimination practices that may exist during recruitment and placement before employment are relatively neglected in the literature. The aim of the study, in the framework of the ads and civil engineering context of Turkey, is to reveal whether there is gender discrimination in the job advertisements, which is the first stage of the recruitment process. Within the scope of the study, 112 civil engineering advertisement published on www.kariyer.net between 01-31 January 2019 has been examined by using content analysis method. Analysis shows that almost all of the job advertisements contain masculine / feminine expressions. Accordingly, it has been determined that the job advertisements examined are generally shaped by taking into consideration the masculine qualities in a way that will give advantage to male candidates. As a result of the study, it was concluded that direct and indirect gender discrimination was made in the job advertisements examined.
Strong ethical climate at all levels is a necessity for any community to function in a healthy matter. This requirement has a far greater importance for the business world because it creates a favorable ground for ethics violations. In this context, in what extent ethical principles find a place in the business strategies of the company and the market is a question to be answered. Thus, with the thought to provide a perspective on the role of ethics in business strategy, large enterprises operating in Turkey have been investigated about how much ethical statements are used in the vision and mission expressions in this study. For the purpose of the research, vision and mission statements of top 100 companies in Fortune 500 Turkey List that announced on 2014 Fortune Turkey magazine have been investigated by using the content analysis method. The findings were discussed in the framework of the research objectives.
